It's a massive demotion. You do realize the following:

1. Hoiberg is an ISU alum.
2. He is from Ames.
3. His wife is from Ames.
4. They are raising 4 children in Ames.
5. His parents are from Ames and his dad teaches at ISU.
6. His in-laws are from Ames.
7. His nickname is "The Mayor." He's probably in line for some sort of political office once he retires a la Tom Osborne.

It's like the perfect storm. And when is the last time that any successful, high-major D1 coach took an assistant coaching position at another school?

Dude might be first in line for any of the blue blood jobs should they come open. Kansas, UCLA, Duke, North Carolina, Indiana, Kentucky. He's not taking a backseat to anyone.

You obviously know nothing about the pecking order of cbb and its ladder to greatness. An asst at UK makes more money and gets more looks from the NBA than a HC of a mid-major.. and it's not even close.

Are you saying Hoiberg is willing to uproot his whole family to UK to get more "looks" from the NBA?
