What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

I am glad we are not Ina position to grab him though. Feels good to know we will almost certainly be inline to pick top 8 in an 8 man draft.

Tried to think of a worst case comparison playstyle and personality wise.

I would throw cj miles out there as a worst case as well.

I dont like young because of his shot selectin and he reminds me of jr and cj.
But i do like his size, athleticism, and skillset and i acknowledge that he COULD end up being one of the steals in this draft.

Too big of a risk imo

Chads take

This is his take on Smart. Seems scouts are as split on him as we are here on JazzFanz...

He's now dropped to #8.

Smart would have been the No. 2 pick in the draft last year had he come out. Another year at school has dinged his stock a bit, but his late-season surge has put him on very solid ground in the top 10. Some scouts love him, some scouts aren't enamored at all, but Smart's range looks like it's Nos. 4-10 right now.

First I've seen of this kid, thanks for sharing. Can he do anything besides dunk?

on offense, not really. you can use him as a P + R guy, he can finish around the rim shooting over 71% in the french leagues from 2, other than that hes very raw, no jumper, 50% free throw guy, his BBIQ maybe his biggest knock

defensively he can do some things hes very quick, and can really defend the pick and roll. his greatest asset is rim protection he shows good timing and body control

he needs to add strength and a ton of polish but hes had a few games this year with flashes of great untapped potential, and his #s are steadily improving

in this game he had 21 points in 28 minutes on 9/13 shooting, 9 rebounds, 7 assists 6 blocks and 2 steals

Look at the 2009 draft, it is really important who do you select:

1 L.A. Clippers
Blake Griffin --- great

2 Memphis Grizzlies
Hasheem Thabeet --- flop

3 Oklahoma City Thunder
James Harden --- great

4 Sacramento Kings
Tyreke Evans --- ok/good

5 Minnesota Timberwolves
Ricky Rubio --- ok/good

6 Minnesota Timberwolves
Jonny Flynn --- flop

7 Golden State Warriors
Stephen Curry --- great

8 New York Knicks
Jordan Hill --- bad

9 Toronto Raptors
DeMar DeRozan --- ok/good

10 Milwaukee Bucks
Brandon Jennings --- ok/good

11 New Jersey Nets
Terrence Williams --- bad

12 Charlotte Bobcats
Gerald Henderson --- ok

13 Indiana Pacers
Tyler Hansbrough --- bad

14 Phoenix Suns
Earl Clark --- bad

15 Detroit Pistons
Austin Daye --- bad

16 Chicago Bulls
James Johnson --- bad

17 Philadelphia 76ers
Jrue Holiday --- good/great

18 Minnesota Timberwolves
Ty Lawson --- good
(traded to Denver)

19 Atlanta Hawks
Jeff Teague --- ok/good

20 Utah Jazz
Eric Maynor --- bad

So please scout the players well and decide properly !!!

I have inquired. I sincerely believe decisions have not been made yet (other than Randle going). So, I guess I'm saying I don't know anything.

My guess;
Randle - 99%
Young - 70%
WCS - 65%
Harrison's - 65%
Johnson - 50%
Poythress - 45%
Lee - 1%

Thanks for sharing.

We will know a lot more on Capela after this weekend and after athletic testing. Scouts will obviously be looking at just how raw the kid really is. He could possibly sneak into the top 10 with some hype out of the Hoop Summit.

Wont be able to watch the Nike Hoops Summit, but I'm super eager to see what comes of it. It'd be cool if Clint straight dominated.

Sucks that golden State will be making the playoffs-- a 14th pick woulda been bawse.
