Following potential 2014 draftees

lol this has gotta be one of the funnier derailments of this thread. anyway ive gotta clarify something after the Biggie mention;

chief-keef-blunt-true-religion-jimmy-jacket.jpeg

Cheif Keef is an 18 y/o goon from Chicago, he gets arrested all the time, got caught in a stolen Ferrari in 2012. The newest crop of rappers from chicago all sound like they dropped out of elementary school, and they are really on some, turf war, gang related, shoot each other type ****.

Is Keef actually autistic?

Good for him. He wants to play in LA or BOS. Those are better franchises than any other in the top 10. If he's good enough to end up where he wants, then good for him. If he isn't good enough, then he won't get picked by those franchises and will have to decide if he wants to stay overseas or not.

I bet Kobe, Elway, Manning don't regret their decisions.

I like the Lamar Odom comp and also see some of the finer points of Marvin Williams (defense, discipline, personality, etc.).

Odom comp is bad. Odom had very good ball skills and a good basketball IQ. BBall IQ and feel for game where Odom's strengths and they are Vonleh's weaknesses.

Welcome aboard the Vonleh bandwagon. PG_AB is driving and I'm the co-pilot. I started pimpin' Noah before the combine and official measurements. And my Vonleh "man crush" has only strengthened since then. Would the Jazz like to move up and get Embiid, Parker or Wiggins? Sure, who wouldn't! But I think the price is going to be too high.

DL was surprisingly candid in a recent interview the afternoon after he returned from LA (link was posted in the JazzNews forum). I'm paraphrasing, but he talked about being pleased the Jazz only fell one spot and how, after the combine and watching workouts, he liked the NBA bodies of a few players that would be available when the Jazz picked. He also spoke about doing what is best for the Jazz "long term" and telling prospects in the interviews what to realistically expect because the Jazz had good young players at every position.

I'm really not concerned about the Jazz trading down from #5. Whether it's Vonleh (my guess), Gordon or Smart, I think those three have emerged as the next best outside the top-4. And some would even place one or two of those in that group. Certainly there's a chance the Jazz could move down one or two spots if an offer presented itself, but I think DL wants to come away with a prospective all-star and any of those seven may qualify.

As for going to Europe, yes, Saric would have been scouted. But there are many others who might be considered at #23 or be "draft and stash" candidates at 35. Lindsey was there during the EuroLeague championship. DL has already increased the importance of int'l scouting. He did that last year. So, I think the trip was planned some time ago, not just in response to coaching need or anticipation of finishing in the 5-7 range.

It's been established already that I'm co-pilot. Been pimping Vonleh since before the college season had ended and am on record saying he belongs on the first tier level with Parker wiggins and Embiid.

Vonleh's ball handling > Gordon's ball handling. Not saying Gordon's bad. Just Vonleh's even better.

Started pimping Vonleh last summer.

I'm likewise high on Vonleh, but no higher than 4 (realistically 5, I'll assume the Exum hype is warranted).

I do not see him in the same tier as Wiggins, Embiid, or Jabari. The physical tools and skills are there, and by all accounts he's extremely coachable. But he's got aways to go and don't know if he has enough "**** you" to his game.

I think Wiggins has miles to go as well, and has the same questionable assertiveness issues. But for as passive as he was at KU, he's got so much God-given talent he couldn't help being arguably the most productive freshman in the country. He's otherworldly as a physical specimen.
