Following potential 2014 draftees

I just got some very disturbing insider news... that I hope proves to be wrong.

James Young is not yet cleared and may have some academic issues that force him to Europe this year. Word is he's working with the NCAA and feverishly trying to get things done.. but may not happen.

So why Europe over the DLeague? I mean it's a different system, even though payment is better. In case he's coming over I'll do an evaluation on the country/league and team he signed with. I didn't like Jennings choice of Italy and Rome when he did it. But he got paid at cost of player development.

I don't know any more details.. I just got a text is all.
I hated the Jennings decision. I followed him all through HS and thought he was going to be unstoppable in the league.. was very deflating when he decided to go overseas.

I thought Jennings did a brave decision at the time. But afterwards and reading about the team I thought his agent was more concerned about his own commission than his client's development. In that context it would be way more exciting to follow Young in Europe than in college. Plus Kentucky still has more than enough players on their team.

I hate you.

It's not like I screwed up the exams or let someone else do it pretending to be me or whatever the academic issue is. If he's not allowed to attend college for academic reasons that's on him. He's got 3 options if he's ineligible. He can stop playing organized basketball completely like Ricky Ledo, play pickup ball, hit the gym. Then there's the Glen Rice Jr. option to play DLeague for 40k bucks a year playing in a slightly more organized setting than summerleague together with players who don't let the shotclock tick below the 15 second threshold or he can go abroad, earn more than 300k € but has instead to adapt to FIBA rules. I don't think he can pull off a Brandon Jennings deal financially unless some owner needs a publicity stunt for some reason and neither do I believe he could get himself a multi million dollar endorsement deal like Jennings.

Ahhh... so that's why it's "disturbing news"...

Cos to be honest witchu I couldn't care less where he plays next year.

Nor would I expect you to.. but you should. It's bad for these kids to go to Europe rather than play USA bb..
And being a Kentucky fan.. obviously I care a great deal.
