Following potential 2014 draftees

Not trying to be entertaining ... just not convinced Wiggins made the right choice to go to Kansas if Bill Self doesn't have the reputation of developing SG/SF. I believe more research is needed to identify which coach/system is best suited for the player he wants to be. To me Tom Crean has a good record with DWade and now Oladipo doing well as a rookie. But how come he wasn't considered?

That's ALL I'm saying.

Not sure why a man has to be shot down just for trying to do an honest day's work.

Just stop.

He should have gone to UK, tbh.. the "Kentucky Effect" will get him major minutes, playing with tons of talent around him, and guarantee that #1 spot is locked up.

Where do you think he should have gone?

Well according to my analysis obviously it's with Tom Crean at Indiana.

Big Ten will be good teasting grounds for him IMO with Mich. St.

Blue is a crappy color.

Hey when I am quoting PKM in this thread it says...

Pkm has exceeded his pivate message storage blah blah blah

then it duplicates my post.

Intended mostly for PKM, but other SMART people can weigh in too.

What players coming out this year would you bet will turn out better than every current Jazz player? Obviously it's hard to say for a lot of reasons, but just for fun and cuz I'm stuck in my car waiting to pick someone up from the airport, what is your best guess? Not who has the potential to be, but who if you had to put money on it will turn out better than every player the Jazz have.

From the little I've read, and highlights I've watched, I'd say...

Wiggins
Parker
Randle
Probably Exum

Haven't watched any of either Harrison.

£¥£

I'd wait a couple weeks to see actual games. Right now I'd take a debt for the core 4 draft recruits often named.
But I'd put minor sums on Young and Embiid.
And I'd put a sum that almost breaks me on Aaron Gordon. Guy plays defense, hustler, loves the game. He'll surpass that Clipper dude that dunks within his first 4 years unless his knees decide to play the microfracture game.
Can't say too much about the Harrisons. Every vid I've seen they presented something different, which I found alternating good and bad.

Hmmm.. then who was Jordan's coach? or LeBron's? or Kobe's? or Durant's? or Carmelo? Aren't they still coaching?

This shouldn't be hard.. seriously.

Personal coaches helped them expand their repertoires.

I dunno.. it seems logical to me to go back and look at the history of which coaches/systems have produced the most/best NBA ready SG/SF, then choose from that pool.

Instead of playing darts with your future...

Look at UNC. They have produced plenty!!!!! Lol... Jordan played at UNC. lol
The main thing about college is that he getts a coach who counts him accountable, isn't afraid to sit him a game if he shows up late for practice and teaching them team concepts for the first time, so they're looking only 50% instead of 100% inefficient and clueless.

You know the situation in pro ball is that most player development happens in the summer with personal coaches. I don't know if the likes of Grover go front and say: Hey Wiggins, you ain't got no money to pay me - YET - but I'm helping you anyways and you pay me back once you're #1(I suppose not)

Sums the quality of the last pages pretty much up

Rick Barnes is one of the very worst coaches of all time. Dead serious.

Oh good grief...did somebody in here say Barnes was a good coach?

Nobody has squandered more talent than that man. Well maybe Roy Williams, but it's pretty damn close.

Gotta be honest. After watching the Wiggins highlights in his game against Pitt State, I am not really impressed with his on court demeanor and poise. Maybe it's unfair but I expected more. The way he carries himself... something seems off about it... there is no leadership, no poise. He is just kind of there. Kind of reminds me of Joe Johnson. I think Jabari Parker has a big edge in this department. I understand that it is unfair of me to expect so much out of Wiggins, him being 18 and all, and perhaps my expectations are just a product of the hype. If I am a GM in the NBA, Not sure I take Wiggins #1 until I see Wiggins with more poise and competitive fire. I didn't see a moment, a flash, a sparkle of killer instinct. He's young, I know, but I want to see that at some point this year.

I put it down to his coach - he had a much better demeanour during the Hoop Summit game.

He should have been coached by Tom Crean (He coached DWade, Oladipo).

This gives a better look at Wiggins' game than a normal highlight mix, imo.

His play reminded me a lot more of our favorite North Carolina alumni than LBJ.
