Young is very talented. As for his defense, I don't think he'll ever be elite, or close to it. He has a lot of skills, but he does not use them. Currently what I see is a player with a lot of skills, who plays for a coach who is very good at coaching defense, that doesn't play defense that well currently. I don't see that changing any time soon. I wouldn't have a problem drafting him, but I'm drafting him because of his offense, not his defense. He'll be league average at best IMO.

The Andre Igoudala comparison to James Young is one of the worst that I've ever heard. Ever.

We'll see. I just summarized Young's qualities and searched for a player who has similar. And by that method they're similar in strengths and weaknesses IMO.

wiggins - even though I like Parker I will admit he is the best just question his killer instinct.

Parker - do it all offensively. very mature but what is his cieling?

randle - still believe he is a man beast but hasn't figured his identity yet.

embiid - yes I am buying his coolaid. I still say mutombo with better offense.

exum - out of sight out of mind. if he continues to just train and prepare for draft will open eyes at the combine.

smart - man child. best team leader in this draft. if he had a consistent shot might be top 3

Gordon - dropping some but plays an a talented team. what is his talent level?

vonleh - just the change in his body is impressive but defensively one of the best.

lavine - yes more coolaid but love his talent with athletism and shooting reminds me of a better Thompson.

Cauley-stein - have to go big here and his motor with his shot blocking instincts is impressive. he can anchor a defense.

I dislike using steals as a significant statistic, but they do have some basis as a player.

As a freshman, Andre Igoudala only averaged 19 mpg compared to Young averaging 32 mpg. Igoudala did average 32 as a sophomore, but he was a year younger. Hard to compare that. Anyways, as a freshman, Igoudala averaged double the amount of steals that Young currently is. Young isn't shooting a great percentage currently, but he is a good shooter. Igoudala has never been a good shooter. There offensive games are incredibly different, I mean, just watch them play. Igoudala is an athletic freak, creates for others, does literally everything on the court...score, rebound, defend, pass...everything. I cannot say the same about Young. I'm not sure why you think they're similar, but they're not.

I've like all your posts and agreed with nearly every point. However, steals is not only a poor indicator, but even more so on a Calipari team. He does not value steals, like, at all.

actually I like the James young, nick young comparisons although James is a better player and no where near as selfish as nick and a better defender.
