Following potential 2014 draftees

Early 2014 Big Board for the Jazz:

1 Wiggins
2 Randle
3 Parker
4 Andrew Harrison
5 Gordon
6 Exum
7 Aaron Harrison
8 Vonleh

All those guys make the Jazz a better team. The first 5 or 6 would put us in the contender range.

Feels wierd to say but I want andrew harrison more tban everyone exceot wigfins

Harrison looks like a bigger and better version of Deron, so no doubt he would be great mixed in with our current guys. We might also be able to get Poythress with our 2nd pick. So that would be another good strategy if we can't get Wiggins or Parker.

Switch Parker and Randle.. and Aaron and Vonleh....

Yeah .. ur valuinig him quite high but I get it.

I would love to see a 6'5 tough as nails .. that can shoot it... PG on the roster...... and add a sharp-shooting wing... AND have $31mm IN SPACE.

I can't quite do that, knowing what a front court with Randle, Favors and Kanter would do to the league.

I need to see more from Vonleh. He's up to 6'9", but I need to see more motor, more hunger and more consistent outside shooting before putting him ahead of Aaron.

If we're really aggressive with this draft, we'll trade a player and a pick to end up with two good lottery picks. That would leave us with a core 4, plus two new franchise-changing talents.

PKM - can Aaron Harrison play the PG position?

I mean if he somehow slips to #16 and we can get him with the GSW pick, what about this lineup???

Aaron Harrison
Hayward
Jabari
Favors
Kanter

That team would be exciting & hard to stop in 2-3 years' time.

PKM can answer, but I don't think that's the right way to use Aaron Harrison. We'd be better off playing Burke at PG and bringing Hayward/Burks off the bench.....or trade one of them.

I don't see Aaron Harrison slipping to 16. If you wanted to, I bet you could trade Hayward and the GSW pick for another lottery 2014 pick. The result would be:

Burke
Aaron Harrison
Parker or Aaron Gordon
Favors
Kanter

...or... we could end up with:

Exum
Hayward
Vonleh
Favors
Kanter

Either team is right nasty.

There are many that think he can, easily.
There was a time he was mocked higher because of it..

All I know is whoever we draft next year, they'll suck in summer league and everyone will overreact.

I like Burke, don't get me wrong.

I'm just thinking ahead - I mean, you always have to think about improving your team, right? You can't just be content with what you have in this league (ask Daryl Morey).

The reason I ask is Aaron is currently mocked at #24 on DX - obviously it won't be that - but in case he falls far enough that we can grab him with the GSW pick - why not???

- He can shoot it
- He can drive
- He can finish at the rim
- Great size defensively

Long gone are the days of the traditional PG, he can be like a Westbrook lite type guy with Jabari. Add to that Favors & Kanter.. wow.. can you say UNSTOPPABLE???!!!!????!!!

What we're looking for are positional advantages. Even if Burke is a solid PG, he won't create the kind of mismatch in our favor that Andrew Harrison or Dante Exum create. So drafting one of those guys gives us an immediate opportunity to improve.

Keeping Hayward at the SG already gives us some positional advantage due to his size, strength and passing out on the floor. So to upgrade there, we'd need at least Aaron Harrison or maybe James Young. I wouldn't be in a hurry to draft the kid from Michigan State, for example.

The obvious opportunity for the Jazz is to get an SF, especially given the players in this draft. So I would assume that's still the most straight-forward strategy---Wiggins, Parker, Gordon, Vonleh and anyone else who emerges this year. We could then use our other pick to get a back-up big like Austin or Poythress.

If we don't go with that approach, we might be able to pull off Exum/Harrison with our first pick and a Poythress or TJ Watson with our 2nd pick. We'd come away stacked with this approach too, and can trade Burke or Burks as part of a deal that leverages our cap space and other assets.
