Following potential 2014 draftees

And from what do you derive this opinion? preseason games?
It's the injury that can derail them. The logjam on the wing has been no problem as expected in preseason games. Iggy is a type 1 teamplayer who has no problem fitting in a culture. Klay has been hitting the shots from the bench. Bogut is understandably rusty after what felt like 15 consecutive ACLs, microfracture surgeries, ankle, concussions, hip replacements and what not.
And betting against David Lee doing work down low and Curry netting 3s is very bold anti-homerism.

No. Preseason wasn't even a factor. This is something that I've thought ever since they got rid of Jack and Landry. Last year was the first year that they had a season above .500 since 07-08, and Landry, Jack, and Barnes were a big part of that. Now they've gone and blown it all up; assigned Barnes to the bench (playing with a different group, hence my confusion of roles comment), and have expanded roles for Lee (who is coming off his hip injury), and Bogut (who is great, but made of glass). I think Iggy is a really good player, I truly do. I'm just not convinced the addition of Iggy coupled with the departure of two of their key role players, and a changing of the only working formula in recent history is going to guarantee them anything.

I loved watching them in the playoffs last year: they were inspiring. I just think they have a lot of growing (again) as a team to do if they are going to replicate the same success they had last year. If they are all healthy (Curry, Bogut, Lee), I can see them doing really well, but that might be too mcuh to ask. There are a lot of factors influencing their destiny.

I'm not saying they're going to be a top 5 worst team if things don't go right for them. I'm just saying they can land in the lottery. Afterall, they were only 7 spots removed from it last year.

This x100000000000000000 times.

Landry and Jack gave them LOADS and LOADS of scoring off the bench and that FIGHT, GRIT and DETERMINATION. Not to mention valuable Veteran presence in the locker room. This year they essentially have ZERO bench production (other than the too-young-to-rely-on Barnes). I don't even know who's gonna be backing up Curry when he goes down to injury.

The Golden State Taners are gonna "sin" this year, mark my word.

Karma's a bitch.

Saw a stat somewhere that Jack was taking and producing the most in the final 5 minutes of games or something. Jack really helped them out.

Absolutely.

Jack's production off the bench last year was: 13 pts, 5.6 assists, 3.1 rebounds.

Not to mention he was probably the bigger leader in the team last year than Curry, Lee and Bogut combined. I still can't believe GSW are so blinded by the lights that is Iggy that they threw out Jack, Landry AND all those draft picks to us.

I'm quietly optimistic we'll get a GREAT pick in '14.

We sure robbed them, and to top it off we got BEANS.

Actually right now Klay is coming off the bench. And he's doesn't appear to be affected by it.
Thing is Golden State basically played last years w/o Bogut. So you add Iggy+Bogut for NO-Defense Landry and Jack.
I see the argument of "first year doing sth right, reaching playoffs", but if I look at their roster. They have 1 player below 23(Barnes@21). They have Klay Thompson turning 24 in February with limited growth potential. Festus Ezeli is turning 24 later this month and roleplayer Draymond Green reached 24 next spring as well. They could have stuck to their roster and overpaid for Jack and Landry, with huge risk that they don't repeat their performance or age kicks in at the end of a 4 yr $20M contract.
But they have new ownership, they wanna take the next step and were looking for an upgrade. With Howard not coming in they decided that Iggy was the next BPA and I agree.

Thing is I can see them slip out of the playoffs as well, but I don't use a reason like: There's a lockerroom turmoil in the making. All their core players have a reputation of being genuinely good persons, teamplayers and there's no reason they won't find a way to make their personalities work. That chance is so slim.
I just say str8 up: They don't reach the playoffs, most of their roster has moved from their houses to the hospital and rehab center. If they're healthy I expect a 7 games first round series and we'll see from there. I don't think their seed is going to be phenomenal, I expect them to finish somewhere from 3rd to 5th. Their bench this year is totally capable of matching what last year's did.
Toney Douglas + Klay + Draymond + Speights + Ezeli + JO includes some gritty defender.
Speights produces at a fringe starter level from the bench when you factor in PER and WS/48. Very strong rebounder. JO was efficient in stretches last year in Phoenix. Douglas and Draymond are gritty defender. I don't know too much about Ezeli aside he was starter last year when Bogut was injured and didn't do his job too bad. And I don't need to talk about Thompson. I'm not a big fan. Others are and you can't argue about his shooting.

For bench production read above. You'll feel foolish if you analyze those squad's production in recent years.
For veteran presence: Steph Curry turns 26 next spring. He's half a year older than Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant. Do you see the Bulls and Thunder failing due to lack of veterans?
Maybe they should buy Steve Nash, if that's the requirement to be a veteran.
Bogut turns 29 before christmas, David Lee will be 31 next spring.
Iggy is turning 30 in January.
I don't see why a 2nd year 21 year old Barnes and 23 year old 3rd year player Klay Thompson would be not capable to win because a lack of veteran presence.

And there's no karma in business. There's only the old 3rd law of Newton. If Karma existed there'd be a hedge fond convention tomorrow and a volcano would erupt underneath them during it. First guy getting hit was someone who bought money from Congo for $3 billions causing thousands to die thirsty. For how that could particularly play out, watch this movie. I can totally advocate it:

But then there was 9/11. So maybe there's karma in business. I might have to reconsider.

Best thing you've said yet.

Iggy is overrated, overpaid and has a bad knee. That 2017 pick looks really good because they are going to be a lottery team most likely. It isn't a given GS makes the playoffs, they will have to be injury free. I think they will miss Jack the most because he made a lot of big shots last year. Another thing is GS has more pressure this year not every team can live up to their fan's expectations.
