Here's the thing with post moves BTP, they translate.

It doesn't matter who your competition is, or who you're playing against, they translate to the next level.

****, some of the post moves Al Jefferson was putting in on high schoolers (quite obviously a low talent level) are the same damn moves he's putting on the professionals. So would it be nice to see it against better competition? Of course, but post moves are one of the few offensive talents that translate to almost every single level. You're not going to see Parker post up and do a little hook shot, that's not his game. But I have seen multiple times in each game where he's posted up, and had a nifty spin move to get to the rim or a fade-away jumper. Those are post moves, and they will translate. It's the same thing LeBron does with his game, same thing Carmello does with his game, and the same thing Paul Pierce did...you gonna tell me those guys don't have any low post skills either? Please.

Arm cocked, making it look lower than what it is, he's still on his way up, and his head is an inch or two from the backboard. Yup. Not athletic.

In the NBA nearly everyone has that level of athleticism, so he won't stand out at that level. But the discussion is pretty pointless tbh, as Duke doesn't have more than 2 competitive games in the next months.
I don't know how you're talking about post moves. I watched now 3 out of 5 vids and have seen 1 legitimate postup vs a total scrub, where he faded away. The rest was broken down how the defense collapsed themselves by playing excited chicken D. So it translates, but for it to translate he's gotta show it.
Love his faceup, doubt his postup until he proves. He's not proven it to me at least.
But I'll stop this discussion at this point as it's taking away too much of my freetime to gather legit evidence and most are too Mormonic to see what I see apparently
I'll just say you all are right, I'm wrong. Maybe I'll restart that discussion in Parker's 3rd NBA season.

Busy atm, I'll post some thoughts a little later. But here's a preview: you take Wiggins with the 1st pick in this draft and don't look back. The NBA game favors the athletically gifted more so than the college game, imo.

Parker (and Randle) will be better college players, but Wiggins will be the better pro, and it won't take as long as some people are saying.

I don't care for extended BTP type debates on college kids with little video so I'll save this comment to bump when his 6'10" wingspan puts up a 10'4" max vertical at the combine. The kid does some stuff well. He has great footwork on the outside and in to get around guys and then create space, but he's quite underathletic for the NBA and already has a tough time finishing strong against highschoolers because he cannot jump. Look back at all the missed easy dunks at the Hoop Summit because his hand gets barely above the rim. Then notice how he compensates by jumping horizontally to sneak past defenders. That can work well at that level to get the kid some scoring but it won't be close to enough in the NBA.

I want no part of him and have said more than I wanted to on it. Throw it into the troll bin for 6-months.

First scene: Wrong defensive move by a 6'3 guard Paris Roberts-Campbell. Not a legitimate defense, that none in the NBA will give him that far out. He made the lob option so easy it doesn't count.
1.08: Being left open when his defender rotated? What you wanna tell me about that, I could finish that play. Helper's help was sleeping as well. Horrible defensive play.
1.27: He hits a bunny after a sleeping defender tried to defend him up front way too late. Horrible defensive play. Not legit. I could hit that. Not even a post situation, as the one before.
1.45: He spins past 6'7 freshman Brandon Stith(sounds a little like stiff). So again he gave him the baseline without knowing if there was help. You don't give a player an easy baseline spin if you don't have help nearby. Rookie mistake. But was also good decision making by Parker. He decided instantly and gave him no chance to rethink his retarded defense. So that was pretty neat. That's a move that could work against NBA bodies. I like it. So we finally have a good post move he took to the basket

Yeah its a little ridiculous that we are pigeon-holing the games of 18 year olds before they've even finished their freshman campaigns. I think people should use this time to observe, not judge. Just keep things at the back of your mind, try to track any improvement-- and then come forth with some postulations come draft-time.

The jist of it is that BTP is saying that Parker has no post-game, and is unathletic. When he was shown video-evidence of said post-game, he is saying it that it was against poor defense-- conveniently ignoring the fact that Duke has played 5 games (mostly against unranked teams), and the ability to take advantage of poor-defense is a valuable skill; particularly when you take into account that the NBA isn't full of Larry Sanders post-defense savants.


I don't mind BTP either-- he just seems to have this pre-occupation with being 'right' and accusing another poster of being 'wrong'. The tone of his basketball-analyzing posts tends to come across as condescending at times, and its unfortunate because clearly he spends time studying the game.
