That's my point. If you focus only on their offensive weapons, then you'd end up with Deron, CP3, Carmelo....
What we really need is a Tim Duncan, Roy Hibbert, Paul George type to really make a push......no?? Somebody suggested taking Embiid for this reason alone a few days ago, I don't know if I can disagree...
The problem I see with Embiid is that he works with neither of the current Jazz big men. Can you trade both and get significant pieces back that allow you to take Embiid? I think Favors and Kanter are very good complimentary players. Favors can follow his man out of the paint, Kanter's size inside is good. Offensively Kanter can be a killer elbow player who also has low post moves. That creates a pretty hard mismatch if the others put the mobile guy on Kanter he goes in the low post, and Favors needs to be a threat from 15 feet on the weak side so there's no help on Kanter. If they send the heavy guy, Kanter goes to the elbow and takes him off the bounce with Favors playing the low post on the opposite site and either one initiating the play. The big guy helps on Favors, he passes it to the elbow to Kanter, and Kanter has a driving lane with Favors spreading a little. Defensively they are pretty interchangable, even though Favors has the better body at this point to play out of the paint.
I'd try to ride that train and create the Memphis towers 2.0
I don't think Jabari will be bad defensively because he'll care and make the effort. He may have to expend an inordinate amount of energy, though, just to be average and could rob his legs on the offensive side of the ball... yielding a player that falls short of what many of us are assuming from him. That is the potential downside.
Yes, all Melo does since he's started the national team is talking about defense. People called him out, all he does is talk and when he accidentally makes a defensive play everyone claps. Pathetic.
Good thing for Jabari is when he enters his prime, LeBron and Melo will be over 35. At that time they won't be primary ballhandler any longer probably. The only other elite main ballhandler SF I see in the league is George.
So other than to contain George, Jabari's championship squad doesn't even need another defensive minded combo forward on a championship squad as I feel Jabari with his long arms can deny a lot of passes if he wants to. So he can play good team defense off the ball with his BBIQ which will serve him. Or are there new killer SFs coming the next couple years better than Stanley Johnson?
You know what I mean... a true 2-way player who can make an impact both offensively and defensively.
Heats had LeBron
Indiaha had Hibbert & George
Spurs had Duncan
Boston had Garnett
etc, etc, etc...
Detroit had Tayshaun? I don't know.
The only team I can remember that didn't have a great 2-way player that won it all was Dallas, but they had Chandler was was a GREAT low post defender and compliments Dirk really well.
Can Favors be that guy? Doubt you can be that guy unless you're legit 7 footer, tbh witchu.
Dallas has Marion, fool. The Matrix is always present. Knows everything! But as we learned in the end the earlier versions of Neo(LeBron, the chosen one[coincidence?]) all had no chance of beating the Matrix.
Well he did win DPOY in 2012, how many players can put that on their CV?
And he made multiple appearances in my fav TV show

Go Hibbert!
