Following potential 2014 draftees

First time I really watched Young. I expected him to be a little more explosive around the rim. Kinda has that Gordon Hayward syndrome around the basket.

I remember PKM saying he had the highest vertical on the team. He definitely looks less athletic than Hayward though, both in speed and hops.

I think he has more hops and quickness. Maybe less speed, and certainly less strength at this point

Randle only played 1st half. Had really bad cramps. Never happened before so I presume it's lack of hydration.

Randle is so strong. His build and athleticism really remind me of the great Royce White (rip)

That crossover and dunk he had early on was crazy insano

Sounds like something LeBron would do. Would you say he has enough skills to play the SF in the NBA??

I would.

I have missed it here guys.

I have been busy with HS Basketball. Good news we were 9-18 last year and right now we are 9-3, with our own Holiday Tournament in a couple of days.

Anyways, I have been watching a ton of college basketball. Here are some of my thoughts:

Doug McDermott is a great college player. Has a better playing body than anybody at the level except for Randle, Parker etc. Will he be a good NBA player? Not so sure.

Andrew Wiggins, hmm what did we think he was going to do? Average 25 PPG on a stacked Kansas team? While he hasn't lived up to the hype, I do think he is one of the top-3 best players in this draft. One of those guys that can be a franchise player and help turnaround a team.

Jabari Parker, my oh my has this guy impressed. Has an NBA ready body already, but at the same time is worrisome because he seems like he can put on weight easily. With that being said, right now he is playing the best ball in the country. Right now he would go #1 and yes he will be a franchise player.

Julius Randle, he is a man amongst boys. A double-double machine, will obvi be a power forward in the NBA. Along with Wiggins and Parker, Randle is one of the three guys in the draft who can turn a team around by himself, maybe Exum is there as well.

Marcus Smart, looks like a more polished player. Still don't have a good read on him as far as the league. Seems like a tweener to me. Still he can score in a lot of ways and that is a good skill to have. Gonna be a top-10 pick.

I am only writing about the guys that I have watched. There are a ton of other guys, Exum, Gordon, Vonleh, Young, Harrison twins, etc.

This draft is really reminiscent of the 2003 NBA Draft. Not comparing these players to the other players, but as far as impact I can see it like this: Parker and Wiggins with LeBron and Carmelo, Randle/Bosh, and there will be a bust somewhere (Milicic). Smart and Exum, one of them could be a Wade. Just some of my thoughts guys, serious though I missed it here.

Agreed with everything here except the highlighted part. I think he can be a great SF in the NBA.

UK had very balanced scoring. One major thing from yesterday's game that I'd like to add to this thread.

There was a concern from UK's coaching staff about the Harrison's being able to stay in front of UL's small but lightening quick guards.

So what did Cal do? Who did he put on Jones? Our 7 footer, WCS. I thought Cal was nuts. But Willie could back off and contain the dribble penetrations with his length and lateral quickness... while being able to recover and get his hands up to contest a 3pt shot.
Nothing much has been said about it, but I was way impressed with our guy that's been averaging 6 blks per game in the last 6 to be able to go out to the perimeter and nearly lockdown quick small guards.

I noticed this. WCS was even picking them up full-court and keeping them in front of him. He looks like a lot like D-Fav. Monster defensively
