Following potential 2014 draftees

Randle - bust? Damn. Think he can carve out a Terrence Jones-type role?

Pls show me an instance where trading down in the NBA draft has worked out.

Pretty sure you were clamoring for us to land 2 rookie contract and out of the league type guys last year instead of consolidating and adding a guy like Burke.

Well had we taken the correct pick at #14 and #21, we'd prolly have more talent influx. But yeah that's the task that none masters .

Serious post.

I would not take Randle before 10.
I would not take WCS before 20.
I would not take either Harrison in the lottery.
Young is the best pro prospect on this UK team... and I'd take him around 12/13.

Last time so many top10 recruits have been so disappointing?
Oh and want a hug bro? I also wanna void all contracts with the guys on my teams when they have a disappointing unnecessary loss.

Rodney Hood (I realize I'm being a homer, but at least the dude has produced. He doesn't have the potential, but he has produced)

Gary Harris (undersized, but dynamite player)

Nik Stauskas (good size, surprisingly athletic, he's white, great shooter)

McDermott (well...maybe not for us, but he's a better Kelly Olynk)

Smart (dynamite defender, he can defend the 2, he's a driver which means he'll get to the line a lot, emotional, leader)

Gordon (plays good defense, very athletic, very versatile)

All of these guys have at least one tangible basketball skill that they are elite at (except for maybe Hood). What does Young have? Athleticism...that's it. I like basketball players who produce, and Young ain't producing.

Young seems to be at least good in transition. Also wanna add that it's puzzling to me how you compare an 35 year old 12 redshirt season Rodney Hood who never has been a superior athlete so he had to look for other ways to get the job done with an 18 year old James Young in terms of realizing his talents, maturity etc.
Oh and I'm not sure McDerpalot is better than Olynyk. I think he may be Ryan ANderson. But Olynyk has court vision handles and most important: SIZE. His shot is hard to get altered.

Another note on Young....

Including this game against LSU, he's had exactly 5 games where he has shot at least 50%.

He's had 9 games where he's shot under 40%.

He's had 6 games where he's been inbetween 40% and 50%.

So in almost half his games he's shot under 40%...tell me again why we're supposed to think he's a good shooter?

So you're evaluating a guy who shoots almost 7 threes a game with FG%? Come on... His eFG% over the season is 49.5%. That's sub par, but he's 18 so I cut him some slack and assume it's Cal's order. Also the fact that none else on that roster can shoot the long ball consistently hurts him there. His man will not help elsewhere ;)
