Following potential 2014 draftees

i see that in him. he just doesn't look like that transcendent talent that people projected him to be in the early in the season. 0-3 in the 1st half. that's just kills me. it was just too unfair for that kid to be compared to bron. early season hype was just wrong. i still see him as top 5 pick, but i really can't say he is a clear top 3. he may look the part, but just doesn't play the part.

it's so unfair that people are compared him to the next MJ. He has a lot of work to do. He had a nice clutch layup, but he also had a awful airball from 3 in clutch time. He is had quite a few defensive lapses.

With all these "cant-miss, going to be an all-time great" players showing their warts this season, wouldn't it be funny if this actually turned out to be one of the weaker drafts. Maybe there will be Parker and everyone else. Wiggins will have have amazing "potential" but never quite harness it (like Marvin and Derrick Williams), Embiid will be raw and develop slowly into a decent, but not spectacular center. Smart will never learn to be a consistent shooter and Exum will have been overrated because of inferior competition.

We've already seen that the Harrison twins were way over-hyped and have dropped out of sight. Most have soured quite a bit on Randle, too. All of a sudden, Tankapalazoo 2014 isn't looking so great.

some interesting clips

illegal screen -> If he doesn't dodge it, it's a charge if the ref isn't blind.it happens if you're chasing through backscreens that you're a little late, but Wiggins lacked awareness giving away a bigger advantage than needed. no helpdefense as well by the big. Such a situation happens Burks 5 times a game.

So he takes away his left hand and leaves the middle open? Is that an instruction or mistake?
That #33(I think his name is Trylor or sth) blocks Wiggins after he didn't hedge out and as it was a double screen, Ellis should have showed strong as well against a 40% shooter. So him giving the middle started the situation but his teammates didn't play exactly smart teamdefense.

I disagree. These players have a huge target on their back. They're not polished and the parts of their games that can make a difference in the pros aren't developed yet or the NCAA rules don't allow exploitation of them. Parker is the most consistent of the pack. He's had a 5 game stretch of bad games or sth. Wiggins and Embiid have shown more mixed results. Randle started strong, but after his performance dropped for his slump he didn't get his individual success into the regions where he started the season.
We also have now a higher sample size of successful one and dones. And coaches have a better idea how to exploit weaknesses of the young players, who in earlier decades would have spent more IMPORTANT minutes on the bench observing.
If I'm the GM I take Wiggins #1 right now. He's got not that much upside as Embiid, but way less risk. I see the steady improvement, even if it's at a slower pace than Parker's. He trusts his jumper more, is comfortable taking more possessions and tries more things. His jumper doesn't have bad mechanics so there's a good chance if his work ethic is proper that he'll improve that soon.
If I have doubts about his drive to be the best I take Parker #1, simply because Basketball is a game of skill and he's got plenty of that. He's right now a PF at the pros because he seems too slow guarding 3s but I've got my doubt as most 3s play off the ball anyways and playing in a 2.9 is different than playing against primary ballhandlers. But as a PF we've seen that curls are killing most players defensively. A.D. and Melo have proven that. So Parker's got plenty of opportunities to beat his defenders who've got size advantage. Defensively, he's got long arms. Some PFs he'll never stop for size or physical reasons but that doesn't matter too much as most PFs are bad defensively. Team defense prevails. Just have a good Center behind your back and have a hand in the shooters face. He should be quick enough to contain most penetrations against PFs. In the post up you need a guard to help.
Embiid has so much potential, but he's 1 year older than the typical fresman. I think he's got all the right traits and if he doesn't reach his perceived ceiling it won't be for lack of trying. But you need time to gain experience and feel for the game. I just think the risk with him to be overhyped is too much to justify a #1. The other guys won't be much worse if he reaches his ceiling. Can't go wrong either way.

Recently, I haven't been that impressed with the top 5 guys - Parker has shown the most consistency and he struggled for several games. Embiid seems to have taken a step back and Wiggins is painfully inconsistent. I think Randle will struggle in the NBA if he doesn't improve his outside shot and his ball handling skills. They all have holes in their games. I think Parker is the most ready.

What will really be tragic (for Jazzland) if Parker, Wiggins and Embiid stay for another year. Which is a big possibility? The worse part of the draft is not knowing who is actually going to declare. Right now I would not be surprised if Parker and Embiid stayed. I wouldn't be overly shocked if Wiggins stayed. I am pretty sure that Randle will go and EXum has already declared. It would really suck if it was only Randle and Exum in this draft.
