There is the rare guy like Kobe who will get to be a great closer as his career moves on, but he was horrendous in the clutch in his early years. It's about having the necessary skills to be effective when the game slows down. These players are regarded as "clutch" because they can make the plays when everything slows down and the opposing defense turns up their focus level. It takes skills and intelligence to thrive in these situations, and I didn't see many of either from Smart this season.

It sucks hes not going to the combine, i guess you have to go with the numbers recorded at the 2010 Euro camp; 6'11" wingspan, a taller standing reach than Jabari with a 36" vertical.

it would seem his tools are similar to James Young, except hes 3 years older and has been playing pros, and Bogdan gets lots of praise for his defensive instincts

A longer Klay Thompson maybe. I don't know much about him. He does have a huge sample size on three point attempts which I like (6.5 @ 34% last year, 5.9 @ 37% this year).
Young will probably be able to do that himself in 3 years, but will likely be gone at 23.

I don't doubt he can produce within the game. He could put up MCW numbers next year, but he's not gonna be an asset in the final two minutes when games are won or lost.

He would at least be very handy on the defensive end in the clutch. We can just sub him and trey back and forth for offense and defense.

I'm trying to think of a power guard like him who has played in the NBA and I'm sort of coming up blank. Bonzi Wells comes to mind, but he was only a SG - couldn't really handle and facilitate like Smart. I loved watching Smart this past season battle PFs and Cs on box outs and post ups. Other guards can't handle him in the post. I'm not convinced about him as an NBA prospect, but he there are things about him I just can't get enough of.
