Following potential 2014 draftees

Fill me in den bro

Basically he would start off on the bench as the backup PF, so he could play in a more uptempo offense. Start him off with something that is like what he did in college, so he can get confidence. After that start experimenting with him more of the perimeter.

I'm surprised we haven't talked more about what position Gordon would play for us.

Guess we've been too busy with all this Randle SF ****.

I like him at SF over PF. This guy is never going to be Blake Griffin. Blake came into the combine 30 pounds heavier with the same body fat, thats a position and a half in the NBA.
So the question is, is he a good enough swiss army knife like AK was at SF? AK couldn't shoot either, but could drive and pass enough to make himself useful.

Kind of how I see it. Only problem is this version of the Jazz doesn't have outside shooters. Jazz would have to hope for games in the 80-pt range.

If de are going to roll with Gordon at the 3 then we better have a Beal like 2 or else teams will just pack it in and collect our brick houses.

AK really fed up our offense. And that was when we had the best shooting PF/C duo in the league. Imagine how much worse our offense would be with Favors (who has zero offensive skill compared to what Boozer and Memo had).

Am I wrong here when I say we need a scorer?

No.

That's exactly what we need.

But some people really get excited when they see Gordo's highlight dunks and think he's going to make Lebron and MJ look like Greg Ostertag.

Exum could be great but he's a foreigner and I guess that makes him riskier than a bunch of freshmen playing against watered down college competition.

Logic need not apply when it comes to fans

And we need defense. We have too many one-dimensional players on the team.

And not one that can be a franchise go to guy. This is our best chance of doing that since we aren't getting a #1 option via free agency. Not unless Cali and Nevada fall into the ocean.

Re: the three players who skipped the combine.

Wiggins - as the consensus #1, had nothing to gain by going

Parker - who knows if he's put on 15-20 pounds. Whether he has or hasn't, the combine simply isn't where he shines. He's have a slow sprint, a slow lane agility, probably a less than impressive vertical, body fat wouldn't look good. Dude is a lock for top 4, probably near lock for #2. The combine isn't his cup o' tea.

Embiid - he's the one I worry about. If he's healthy, goes to the combine, comes in at a legit 7' or 7'1", long wingspan, jumps and runs well and proves he's in great health, he might have a shot at stealing Wiggin's #1 slot. My gut has always been, and with him missing the combine, I feel even more strongly that dude isn't healthy. I love Embiid's size, athleticism, toughness, demeanor - everything. But I don't what anything to do with an injured big man.

you are on point with parker, but all he had to do was come in and get measured and don't do anything else. weight would not have mattered because most scouts would know he was a big dude at 240lb. i think his size would've impressed scouts.

embiid was measured at 7ft with shoes on in 2013 hoop summit. i have him at 6ft 11 barerfoot. i thought he was tad shorter than Austin. but embiid is long. dude will be top 3 in blocks in per 36 instantly.

i'm worried about his back, but his potential is just hard to ignore. i'll take him at #3.

I agree, the thought is Kanter (at PF) can extend his range to the three point line. He probably has a better chance of hitting threes than any big not named Parker in this draft.
So you would have:

Favors
Kanter
A. Gordon
Hayward
Burke

6th: Burks

Bench: Evans, Gobert, Clark, Neto?, FA, GS pick

I am not super high on Gordon, but we need a big athletic player that can some day slow down guys like Durant and Lebron. It all comes back to them, they are the gatekeepers. If we don't draft one will have to overpay on the free agent market.

Agree with you. Wiggins, Exum and Parker ar my top 3. And I have Vonleh ranked higher than Randle or Gordon because I think he's going to be a more complete player.
