Following potential 2014 draftees

my top 5 mock draft

Cleveland - Joel Embiid - they are in a win now. they want labron back and embiid will be able to play right away. with Irving's porous defense a player in the middle like embiid is perfect. they still need a 2 guard but have some great talent. wiggins is interesting but is a couple years away and they need to show labron they are winners now.

Milwaukee - Andrew wiggins - they want to win now but the team is a mess. sanders will be shipped out and knight is a joke as a pg. I love Nate wolters but he is not an anchor piece. time to strip the team and build around Henson and wiggins.

Philadelphia - Noah vonleh - big surprise in the draft but Philly is not ready to be competitive, they don't need Parker who is the most nba ready, they need to look to the future. Noel and McW are the anchor pieces neither who are great shooters. vonleh is the perfect fit in the style of team they seem to be building. he will create driving lanes for McW and open up underneath for Noel. this is a future pick but vonleh will be one of the best players in this draft in 5 years.

Orlando - Dante exum - a future back court of exum and oladipo will be huge. neither are great shooters but could be one of the best back courts in the nba in a few years. the magic still need a good 4 to go with vujicic but with 2 lotto picks exum is the right choice.

Utah - Jabari Parker - no one expected Parker to fall so far but all the players picked in front of him are better defender and probably have higher ceilings. Utah needs to get out of the cellar and parker will come in from day one and be the #1 option. defense is a huge question mark but a good coach can hide some with good team defense.

I think it would be more likely that the 76ers trade down to 5 to draft Vonleh, then they get some more assets from us and we get Jabari.

Not bad. I really think Milwaukee needs a true go to scorer and Jabari is the best in the draft (and last draft too).

Also, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if Orlando takes who they feel is the best PF in the draft. They can get Ennis or Payton with the #12 pick. It's just a matter of they think that Exum has true star potential and Vonleh/Randle don't.

I also see Philly combining some of their later picks to move up. They can get three more starters to go with Noel and MCW.

Yes, wouldn't be surprised to see Wiggins and Parker switch positions. Parker, along with being a fantastic scorer, is also a PR dream to help the Bucks get past the Sanders debacle. I also think this is the best spot for a Utah trade.

1. Cavs HAVE to keep the #1 pick to show LeBron they are SERIOUS about winning NOW! For that reason, I think they take the most NBA-ready player in Parker or the player that could become a dominant center in Embiid. My money is on Embiid.

2. Milwaukee needs a lot of players. Trade with Utah and they could pick up a starter at #5, another decent player at #23 and perhaps twist the Jazz' arm to give up Burks or Kanter.

3. Philadelphia has a ton of picks already. I think they'll be interested in keeping their own, then trying to combine others to move up. They need 2-3 starters out of this draft.

4. Orlando: simply not enough value in swapping one spot unless Parker, Embiid or Wiggins slide down. Exum vs. Vonleh or Gordon (or Smart) - whoever the Jazz prefer - just isn't that big a difference right now.

a few of us picked Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to be the late riser into the top 10 last year and nailed it. this year i get the feeling that guy is LaVine

Eric Pincus: The buzz on LaVine is that his floor is probably 10-14 and if a team wants him - may have to reach a few picks into top 10 to lock him in
