What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Decent read on Thom Maker:

At present, the NBA remains at least three years away for Maker. There's no shortage of work for him to do in the meantime, particularly on his body. Playing so much competitive basketball has made it difficult for Thon to keep weight on his 7'1", 205-pound build, much less add any. As such, Smith has suggested that Maker won't be partaking in his high school team's full slate of games next season.

I had no idea he was being handled quite like he is. Could be either good or bad, I guess.

I think we'll be seeing A LOT more of this. Towns didnt participate in AAU in lieu of working with dribbling, shooting, and post moves specialists. For Towns, I believe it pays off.. as he's way ahead of his peers for his age.

Maker needs to replace games not to simply gain weight, but to hit the weights, hard, and, like Towns, work on skills.

It's definitely pretty smart, especially for guys that aren't going to improve their recruiting stock through playing in more games. I'm not sure I would ditch the actual high school games themselves- those are fun games....memories worth having. More valuable than the extra 5 -10 lbs he might put on. I'd have little problem cutting the AAU games games as soon as I had offers in hand if I were in their positions though.

So we should draft well. Oh, and look, we are already at 8 pages! Awesome this has been around a long time.
