What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

A couple guys mentioned here:

Bam Adebayo - Should be able to do the things Favors did this year, but on rookie scale. Has very similar physical attributes. He's not the elite pick-and-roll finisher that Favors was 2 years ago, but he could evolve into one. It's not clear if the Jazz would want to go this direction for a PF/C, but Bam's physical attributes alone are lottery caliber. He'll shoot out to 18 feet pretty consistently, compete on the boards, finish around the rim and defend out to the perimeter.

Donovan Mitchell - Will be able to create and score in this league. He has athleticism, instincts and body control that make him comparable to CJ McCollum (as a rookie) and Dion Waiters. Will he blend well into Quin's offensive scheme and move the ball, or will the ball stick? I don't know, but he should be able to switch and defend. The Jazz desperately need a guy who can break a defense and get into the paint. Mitchell should be able to do that. He's an 81% FT shooter and averaged 5 rebs per game. He's undersized for a 2-guard, but could come off the bench and provide instant offense.

Hartenstein - I think he's going be very good. I just don't see how he's a PF. His feet don't seem quite quick enough and his ball skills out on the floor don't fit the modern PF role, though he's actually a surprisingly willing and skilled passer. I think he'll functionally be like Steven Adams, but with a jump shot and more driving/scoring ability.

Yeah, I still like him, I'm just not trading up to get him.
Not even close. Ib underestimated his inability to actually learn to play basketball. The more i watched Bam the more i thought he didn't look like a basketball player. He's big, strong, and athletic and I'd take him late first and hope he figures it out, but over time he went from underrated to one of my least liked guys in the draft.

Hart is widely considered a second-rounder, no?

If first-round talent like Ojeleye, Adebayo, Wilson or Diallo are available at 30, you have to grab one of those.

He can provide that for sure (isn't that what Bolomboy's for tho?), I'm pretty sure the Jazz let Rudy do that **** tho and then they fill in bigger peices to the puzzle, rathr than giving Rudy reinforcements beyond Favors...

What do you make of Mathias Lessort in comparison?

I would take Jordan Bell over Lessort. I think Lessort has more offensive potential but I believe Bell has elite defensive potential. I think he can make all defensive teams. He's such an explosive athlete. I've seen plays where he jumps two or three times before the opposing player gets off the ground once. He can switch on pick and rolls too. He's quick and has good instincts. I like Bell a lot.

I remember that time I had a really good feeling about CJ McCollum but the Jazz passed on him, just like they passed on Devin Booker for Trey Lyles. The name Trey is bad news for the Jazz, perhaps?

If the Jazz stayed put at #14 in that draft, they might have felt obligated to take a flier on Giannis.

Lessort has an impressive level of beefiness and explosiveness. He is way more comparable to Booker than Bell is.

I prefer Cameron Oliver over Bell. There's like a year and a half age difference too. He also is quite ferocious and shot 38% from 3 on 4.8 attempts per game...

To me he's clearly a superior prospect than Bolomboy..
