Bell does everything Lydon does but threes

That one thing may trump what bell does.

I like both would be happy with either was more responding to the I don't get the love for this guy comment.

What Bell did in college translates to the NBA more then what Lydon did in college due to their physical traits. Lydon's physical traits will limit what he does in the NBA IMO.

Lydon is younger. He was in awful shape... still did some athletic things. He had a 7' wingspan and gets his hands on the ball a lot on defense. Maybe he becomes the PF version of Joe Ingles... makes threes plays smart defense and makes good passes. I don't think he's Steve Novak and at 24 or 30 he's well worth the gamble. There are some low hanging fruit improvements he can make just by working with our development staff.

As far as potential goes, he's clearly the superior talent to Lydon. At the very worst, Bell is a young millsap. I've seen several of Bell's games and I couldn't help but remember a young San Diego state player. Remember now, one of his knocks was his shot. But he was very athletic and had a high motor. Could you imagine how good we'd be if we had drafted him?

It is part of the knock on him. His one mistake stood out... and he did it twice in a row, but he relies on his athleticism and isn't as diligent at boxing out.

This reminds me of when people used to berate lebron or Kobe for their last second failures. Yep. Uh huh. Lebron sucks. Let's ignore that without him his team would've been blown out. Let's focus on the one play he failed to make and forget about the 40+ pts and 10+ assists.

Considering Bell's backcourt was 5-22 shooting, do we really think Bell's missed rebound was really the difference when his team was already losing? And so what if he had secured the board? Seeing his guards awful shooting, they probably would've just air balled a desperation shot at the buzzer anyway.

Bro... it's in his DX profile... he doesn't box out well enough. He can improve. He's not the reason they lost, but when I saw that happen I looked into it further and its a thing.

I like the guy... I think he could be good, but he's as one dimensional as Lydon which was what the discussion was about. I think non-shooting energy bigs abound in this draft. I'd take Bell, but I think I can fill a similar role potentially with Bam or Ike. I am not sure Bell is a good fit next to Gobert... he's not a shooter. I think he's an energy big off the bench... at 24 and 30 I'd take that.

I think Lydon has a little higher ceiling... anyone projecting Bell as a shooter is guessing... he did very little of it at Oregon and wasn't good when he did... not every energy player will develop like Millsap... some of them will just stay as Montrez Harrells and Trevor Bookers. Fine players, but bench guys.

When I came into this draft season it took me a bit to get those 2 missed rebounds out of my head from bell. I was rooting for Oregon. It wasn't until I went back and re-watched that I saw bell was tired. He had given his all. I want bell so bad

It sucked... he's super exciting... I think he can be a better version of Booker... not sure he's ever going to have anything near Millsap's offensive game.

At #30... I'm in. I think he'd fit well with Lyles off the bench.
