What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

I can mimic alot of different shooting forms I really don't want to try Lonzo's tho it'll screw up my mechanics.

The follow thru I use in game is a lefty imitation of Dirk, I **** the ball back further over my head like Michael Redd though.. so I'm used to releasing it really high. I actually find I've got the best range on my shot like that, so what Ball does is totally foreign to me.

Edit - you seriously can't post **** the ball back? ****

But Dirk doesn't really do the catapult release. He's got a very stationary point of release, just flicks his giant hands very noticeably.
I don't mind the low release point of Lonzo tbh. Curry doesn't have a very high release either, but he's got a quick release. With his baby hop he reaches the apex very early and has a stable release point with the ball basically in front of his face, operating in time-windows that are within reaction time of his opponents.
Ball stops the dribble, holds it for a split second, but noticeably enough to give it away to good defensive players, at hip height and then enters his shooting motion(which by itself isn't that slow). The ramp up he needs before entering his shooting motion is a problem, but maybe it can be accelerated over time? I had to watch his releases again to be sure. I think it's a massive gamble that this shot as it is right now can be launched in the NBA without him being 7 foot tall.
UCLA's spacing is also way better than he'll ever find it in the NBA(45% or sth like that as a team), so the argument that better teammates will make it easier for him doesn't apply here. I don't think he'll ever find that much space even though the NCAA court is smaller.

NBA GMs that are interested will need really good background checks on him and psychological examination. He's got all that overcommitted daddy insulating him from outside influences all over him. Can he adapt once daddy can't strong arm his way to become head/assistant coach of his team?

Yeah I mean I try to catapult it and steady my aim at the end like you see from Dirk, I couldn't do that when I first started shooting this way but that was years ago back when the Mavs won the title, now its much easier cuz I'm stronger and have muscle memory.. I'm too used to shot faking above my head to change it now, I definitely don't think I'd get nearly as many bites on the fake if it was much lower..

I really think NBA teams will be more concerned with what Ball can bring to the table over worrying about his weaknesses.

Jawun Evans gets the nod so far for most improved player. From 12.9 ppg last year to 23.4 ppg. His PER jumping from 22 to an astronomical 36.9
His high free throw attempts (7) and steals per game (2.7) bode well for an NBA prospect despite his size.

I'm really not a big fan. 2nd rd grade in my book

He does have some red flags, like a 38% mid range jump shooter both this year and last, and 52% finishing around the rim (hoopmath).
I think he'd be good value with the GS pick though.

If Josh Hart is available with our first 1st round pick, I'd take Josh Hart.

The biggest Nova fan I know(who says they're gonna win the tourney every year) swears that Hart isn't improved from last year he just does a bit more with no more Arcidiacono, Ochefu and Phil Booth injured.

He says we'll see a similar 'step up' in play from Jalen Brunson next year, who he says can drop near 30 nightly right now if needed..

Dedric Lawson just missed a triple double last game by 2blocks. Tonight Vs Monmouth (in the best matchup on the schedule - ESPN3) he's got 10pts, 10 rebs 5ast and 2 steals at the half..

How bout this random stat from ESPN's Stats and Information -

Villanova's Josh Hart is currently averaging 20.1 PPG, 3.7 APG and is shooting 56.6 percent from the field. The last player to average 20 PPG, 3 APG and shoot 55 percent in a season was Tim Duncan in 1996-97 (min. 10 games).

It should be noted that Frank Mason III of Kansas also meets those criteria this season.

to say he hasn't improved is simply wrong. he not just doing more, he's doing it more efficiently - and it's not that close. either way, doesn't matter a lot. he was really good last year too.

Jaron Blossomgame, who DX has in the 1st rd and will be months away from turning 24 at the time of the draft, finally had a good game from 3..

He was shooting... wait for it... 12% from 3 on 3.1 attempts(3/25)... after 45% on 3.3attempts last season..

Vs South Carolina St. today he went 2/4 from deep, 29pts on 16fga's, 9 rebs 4 ast, 1 stl, 0 to's.
