Following potential 2017 draftees...

Interview with Oregon Ducks Jordan Bell and Dillon Brooks who worked out with the Jazz today

Both seem comfortable around the media and well spoken.

Bell's comparison to Green isn't terrible. I will say however that Green's perimeter skills were far more refined at this stage than Bell's. It's not a terrible comparison though. The motor and athleticism are certainly there. I'm not sure you'll find a better energy guy than Bell in this entire draft. I see Bell's perimeter skills more on the level of young Paul Millsap.

Perrin also seemed impressed with Brooks "clutch gene", says it's something he personally values in players who have proven they can hit big shots.

Thornwell said he had the Jazz workout circled as an important workout, one that he needed to do well in. Sounds like he really wants to be a first round pick, hoping to get that stock boosted since the Jazz are one of the few teams with two late first round picks.

I would like having a Frank Martin coached player.

I really enjoy his name too... It sounds like he is British Royalty or a hedge fund manager or something.

He is also good at basketball so that's a plus.

I was pretty high on him during the college season, but I came down a bit since then. His main offense is barreling into people because he is stronger than most college players and his shot is kind of ugly, even though it went in this year. He might just be Joe Ingles without the 3pt shot and ball-handling ability.

I really want Collins. I think he's the perfect backup 5 , the perfect starting stretch 4 who can play both ways, and has enough quickness and toughness. With Favors, Johnson and Diaw all up at year end (or earlier if we opt out of Diaw), Bolomboy far from proven, no long-term stretch 4 on the roster to fit Quin's style, and Withey as the backup center also likely gone or at least in question given his personal issue at year end, Collins fits and fills multiple roles and needs.

If he slips and is still on the board around 13, we have to seriously consider trading 24, a 1st next year, and Burks, or something like this, to move up to get him. If we could get him while also retaining Favors (at least until the deadline anyway) and our other core players, we could be damn formidable. We'd still have the 30th pick and our two seconds to pick up other guys on the cheap and fill other needs but I think Collins is the most well-rounded player who can contribute now at multiple positions in the short-term and be a starter in the long-term who is in our trade range. I'm not sure if that's enough to get him but him, Semi at 30 and whoever else after that would be a haul.

Hill-Exum-Neto-2nd
Hood-Ingles-2nd
Hayward-Semi
Favors-Johnson-Bolomboy
Gobert-Collins

Hell, maybe we even sign Bogut on the cheap too for a helluva presence and with Semi, a lot of added toughness.

That roster would have a lot of youth to get VERY excited about (Exum, Collins, Semi) and yet also our core in Gobert, Hayward, Hill and Ingles locked up long-term. Favors may walk at year-end but he could be traded. Hell, maybe he'd re-sign on the cheap if he's mediocre again.

I'm sure the Jazz really like Collins, and they're asking themselves how versatile a player he can become. His shooting seems legit, and his rebounding and shot blocking make him arguably as strong a prospect overall as Markanen. He could go anywhere from 9 - 13, imo.
