Why? What about Leaf's game is compelling for the Jazz compared to the other bigs? Would he be ahead of Lyles in the rotation?
For starters, he shot 46.6% from three. We desperately need that from a PF. He had a higher rebounding percentage than guys like Bam, Wilson, Lydon, etc. I'm sure you saw how bad of a rebounding team we were when Gobert was on the bench.
Im not trying to to discredit his stats but who didnt shoot impressively from the 3 from ucla, they were the best offense in the nation last season Bryce Alford's kid shot 43% from 3 even though he had 7.5 attempts per game.
I dont know what people see in leaf, he looks like a unathletic stiff who is slow as hell. Mabye im selling him short but he doesnt really impress me as a nba prospect.

If his shooting and rebounding translate to the pros, then you're right he's a great player. He could be, but I like the potential/upside of other PFs in our range a bit more. Leaf is a high-IQ player and a good passer. He's willing to get in and scrap in the paint. Again, I see a number of comparisons to David Lee. I just don't know if his defense, rebounding and 3-pt shooting will hold at the next level.
He is more athletic than you are giving him credit for, but he does move kind of clunkyIm not trying to to discredit his stats but who didnt shoot impressively from the 3 from ucla, they were the best offense in the nation last season Bryce Alford's kid shot 43% from 3 even though he had 7.5 attempts per game.

It does a bit. They had better spacing and pace than any D1 team, a lot of wide open easy 3s. Leaf's 3pt attempts are small sample size. That logic doesn't make sense. Who doesn't shoot impressively on GS?
