I think Locke usually highlights a few guys tho. The only year I really remember the guy him loving above all else and the Jazz picking was Lyles.
I never really followed Tony for the Jazz draft. Is he usually pretty accurate with his predictions or insider knowledge? He seems to be for the Jazz as a whole, so I assume he is for the draft as well. Gotta wait for Locke to do his draft vids, that dude says way too much lol. Made videos gushing over Burks in 2011, Gobert in 2013, Lyles in 2015, said he didn't like anyone in 2016 and we ended up trading out, and loved Mitchell last year. In 2014 he gushed over Aaron Gordon, so I'm convinced we were gonna draft him if he was available.
He still managed to telegraph the Bradley pick from Japan, though...Then the year DL threatened to fire anyone who talked about Mitchell he didnt talk about the draft that much.
Tony was the one that came closest to calling the Mitchell pick last year. I think he even had tweets saying the Jazz are trying to move up and the likely target is Mitchell.I never really followed Tony for the Jazz draft. Oh yah... you are right. I remember now. It wasn't a tweet. It was on some podcast that he said it.He did a podcast for the Trib and separately for ESPN where he said the Jazz really liked Mitchell. But given how far out of range Mitchell was from our pick (24), that would be like the Jazz saying they like Mikal Bridges or Trae Young in this draft. It's like -- yeah, everyone likes those guys.
Yeah i've been comparing the red rocket favorably to stauskas here for years.
Huerter's another kid Team USA endorsed yeas back even though he was ranked like 70th in the class(4stars). I remember an article that had some of the coaches saying something to the effect of that they thought the best player to run their offense thru was Huerter.
His shot is crazy accurate and hye's got nba rangeand then some. He's got great 'game sense' too.
The good news is that this year's draft, unlike last year's, is lacking quality bigs outside the top half of the lottery. Combine this with the fact that the talent level is pretty even after the first 15 - 16 picks, and the Jazz may be able to trade Tony Bradley along with their pick (and maybe a non-guaranteed contract) to move up into the mid-teens somewhere. The target ought to be KBD or someone who slips a bit.
For example, Washington (15), Phoenix (16), and Milwaukee (17) could all use a young big. If they're not sold on Jontay or Mitchell Robinson in their range, they could do a swap.
