Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Isn’t the midrange shot the worst shot you can take. Isn’t threes and layups the type of shots teams hunt for?

No doubt, but we're scouting people's talent. He's not as talented as the guys we're comparing him with. If I hire an electrical engineer and he's doesn't know what the internet is I get worried, even if it's not related to the job I'm hiring him for. Get my drift?

People will pretend they didn’t sleep on Allen in a couple of years....

I'll go on record and re-iterate that I would draft the following guys ahead of Grayson Allen: Jerome Robinson, Kevin Huerter, Anfernee Simons, and probably even Gary Trent Jr. Depending on the team and the development situation, I might take Melvin Frazier and Okogie before Allen as well.

I don't completely buy that the Jazz dont make promises.

There's a difference between a 'hard' promise and a promise with contingencies. A hard promise would be to say, "We'll stay at 21 and draft you there if you're available." A softer promise with contingencies would be, "If we decide to stay at #21 and you're on the board, we will draft you there, but we're looking at other options, including trades that could affect our decision to draft you."

I think the Jazz do make the latter kind of promise, since it's easy to do it and doesn't paint them in a corner. They apparently promised to draft CJ Miles back in the day and took him in the 2nd round after they traded away a late 1st-round pick to move up for DWill.

Just want to say that Jerome Robinson is a dramatically better offensive player than Grayson Allen. Robinson was 2nd in the ACC in scoring behind Marvin Bagley and carried his team offensively consistently facing traps and double teams. His defense is a question mark, but the idea that the Jazz would draft Grayson Allen ahead of some other guys who proved more as younger players seems ludicrous to me.

He's so underrated it's disgusting. He's proving himself in workouts right now. Allen is testing well, but we'll see the true value of both of these players come draft night.
