Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Which is?
That athletic and physical development are important things in the NBA and I want players who are as dedicated to the weight room as they are the basketball court.

While the bench press number is not important, it's the only number we have for strength at the combine. It's a sign of work ethic in the weight room. Being able to rep 185 zero times when you are nearly 22 is a sign to me that the guy either never touches weights or has a hard time gaining strength. I'm not discussing specific numbers or putting stock into a guy who can do x amount more than this player. I just want a player who is actually dedicated to his body and 0 reps at his age point to him not being dedicated.

He likely doesn't like weightlifting. It might be a sign of poor work ethic.
aka Andrei Kirilenko syndrome.

*And yes, guys who are insanely talented can overcome a so-so work ethic in regards to tuning their bodies to peak performance, but I dont think Frazier is skilled enough to have that luxury*

So Kevin Durant is okay having zero bench presses because he was 19 but Frazier is a terrible prospect idea for us because he had zero bench presses at 21.

Just making sure we are all seeing the same logic.

And to be clear, I'm a fan of Frazier. I think he is likely an energy wing off the bench who can make some cool plays.

I just don't have much confidence for him to reach his ceiling, whatever that may be. And a lot of that doubt comes from how his lack of strength will hold him back from playing the position he is best suited for in the NBA, small ball 4.

You are either dumb as hell or purposefully being daft. I have explained my position on this pretty well and this isnt at all what I am getting at.

BTW @rare144 is right about the wingspan. Players with longer arms have harder time with the benchpress.

Yes, I'm aware (this is my go to excuse when anyone I workout with out benches me). 0 reps a few months away from turning 22 is still 0 reps. And the two other older extremely long and skinny players (KBD and Hervey) had no problem putting up some reps

Not sure that's any different than most years. Look at last season. Philly was just stupid to take Fultz. And to compound matters they gave up assets to do it. Boston laughed all the way to the bank with Tatum.

It's always good to have #1. You get to choose anyone. So if you think Doncic will be better than the bigs, you take him. If you think it's JJJ or Porter, you take that player. The draft "experts" may be saying Ayton is the best prospect, but that's why a team employs scouts and has a GM.
Of course its better to have #1 than any other pick. My point was more that if you only get the #1 pick once every 20 years, it would suck to have your one time be this year as opposed to an Anthony Davis year or Kyrie Irving year.

Idk how y’all are twisting what Cy said, but that’s really impressive. Whole new level of dumb.

When you have a guy who is an older prospect, raw, and there are indicators that he might not be into the weight room...that’s a red flag. ESPECIALLY when he’s already undersized and lacking in offensive skills.

Basically, for Frazier to succeed, he needs to become more of a physical prospect. Gain weight, get stronger, etc. That’s easy, basic stuff. Cy is right to think it could be an issue. He’s not saying it is an issue, just that it could be. Comparing Frazier to Durant/Jokic is intellectually dishonest and downright dumb because their games are different.

****, I'd rather have Ayton over Kyrie.
