Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Mo Wagner is an intriguing prospect. He's not getting a lot of buzz. I've seen him mocked in the 2nd. Would DL consider taking him at #21?

But only cap relief for NY in 2 years (by trading Burks and Crowder, for example). By then, Noah's contract is expiring and may actually have some value for NY. There's no way we can get to even the early teens without giving up a player we want to keep. Jazz just don't have good, young, tradeable assets.

My thought is picking up the option on Udoh then trade Burks, Udoh and #21 for Noah and #9. The trade saves NY about $7 million this year (if you also factor in the draft pick's hold/salary) and Noah's $18+ for next year.

There is already talk about NY going after either LeBron this summer or Kyrie next summer. This trade gives them a financial shot to pursue them. Do they do this trade? Probably. Would we do this trade? Probably not. I would want more if we took on Noah. Just speculating...

This is a draft I almost wish the Jazz had two first round picks. I just think this is a deep draft and the Jazz need a lot improvement from the bench when it comes to having a guy who can get his own shot.

I like several of the SG/SF in this draft. Huerte, Okobo, Frazier, Robinson, Donte, Brown, Allen etc. I am starting to like Frazier as a energy/defender. Then if we could add a guy who can shoot like Huerte or Donte or Okobo or Robinson. Jazz bench would be immediately better.

We can't even do that trade because we can't use any of the non guaranteed guys in trade until after the draft. Even if we could, this trade would be a no from me. 2019 cap space is far more important than the 9th pick. Taking any salary in 2019 just for a pick that may or may not pan out would be a major mistake. We are in good shape with our roster right now. Taking bad contracts in exchange for better picks isn't something we need to do.

I'm fairly certain we debunked that rumor about the non-guaranteed guys. If we pick up their option, I believe they can be traded at draft time because they have a firm contract for 2018/19.

And I agree, I'm not the biggest fan of 2019 cap space, but I like it more than #9 for #21.

For what it's worth Yardbarker has the Jazz selecting Chandler Hutchison SF from Boise State with the first round pick and PG Tony Carr from Penn State with the 2nd round pick.

I have about 5 players I REALLY want the Jazz to draft.

In no particular order I would love for these players to be drafted:

- Melvin Frazier
- De'Anthony Melton (really want him)
- Shake Milton
- Kevin Huerter
- Isaac Bonga
