No one promised anything. He pulled out of workouts because of the injury and people took it to mean he had a promise. If the Jazz did promise him, I wonder if that affects the promise?

Maryland forward Kevin Huerter, a projected first-round pick in the June NBA Draft, underwent surgery to repair torn ligaments in his right hand, sources tell ESPN. He will be sidelined for two months.
Well that would make SL boring... PASS!
Just put Mitchell in! What could go wrong?
I don't think injury is ever a stock booster. People knew he can shoot anyways...If anything this is a stock booster for Huerter. He was impressing people in workouts with his shooting and at the combine w/ a ****ed up finger that needed surgery.
He injured his finger towards the end of the college year. Maybe he thought it would heal on it's own w/ rest, and then he aggravated it worse at the combine/private workouts? Or maybe he always knew it needed surgery and just wanted to get a handful of workouts in to make sure he was a first round pick. If he comes out at the end of the season and announces he is getting surgery maybe his stock never rises.
Here's what ESPN's analytics models say about the prospects:

They also say Okobo is overrated :|
Sure they can be. It can increase intrigue if he was playing so well during workouts with an injury, imagine what he could do full healthy. It's a finger/hand injury, nothing major. It's not like we are talking about a lower body injury.I don't think injury is ever a stock booster. People knew he can shoot anyways...
Their model gave good marks to Tony Bradley. Hopefully his ceiling reflects that. Would be great if he could be a legitimate rotational player behind Gobert.Their model sucks. Here's last years...

"Donovan Mitchell projection: All Star- 0.15% chance, Starter- 9.87% chance, Role Player- 19.49% chance, NBA Caliber- 29.51% chance"
Jesus. 0.15% chance, and he's more than just an all star. I wonder what that model would've put the odds of him becoming a top 10, franchise type player. 1/1000?Their model sucks. Here's last years...

How am I suppose to quantify and show proven boosted stock? Please find a situation where an injury leads to surgery which helped boost a prospect's stock.
Yesterday, you're telling us how a 21 year old not being able to lift 185 pounds means he's not a hard worker and today you're telling us a prospect getting surgery and missing workouts is going to improve his stock. In either case, where is there evidence this is true?
I mean, just think about it. If you saw a guy dominate a workout then found out he was playing with a finger that needed surgery, would you not be more impressed?
Well lets hope it's those first two.At a minimum, 2 out of the following 5 players will be available at #21:
- Elie Okobo
- Kevin Huerter
- Anfernee Simons
- Keita Bates-Diop
- Jerome Robinson
