I agree, buuut I’m pretty sure every other front office realizes that (whether all owners get it or care is a different story).

The counterpoint would be that value is almost always considered higher in the present than in the future (which is basically why loans and interest exist and are major economic drivers). I’d definitely be trying what you’re suggesting, but I also don’t think there’s going to be people knocking down our door for our 2nd rounders in this draft.

He runs the floor well, finishes well, gets by defenders with long strides. He's been passing well and he's started rebounding in traffic. He's looked like a bigger, somewhat more aggressive version of a young Nic Batum. He's also been getting to the FT line at a high rate and is making enough FTs for it to be a positive signal.

The theoretical part is whether he gains another 20 lbs, starts dunking on people, and makes some shots off the dribble.

I’m fine with that tbh. I’m not drafting him at 5, and I’m perfectly content to take one of Harper, Ace, Tre or VJ first and then get a guy like him via a trade up from other picks. And there’s plenty of other guys I like in that range (CMB, Demin, Essengue, Bryant, Traore, Fleming, etc.) that I’m not overpaying dramatically to move up to get him.

At 21 if Malauch is gone take best center available at 21 if they want a center
Don't think they should give up too much to move up
They may also get a couple good players with their second rounders

But we already have Kessler. Why throw the kitchen sink to draft a guy who might one day be better than a guy who’s already solid? Why not use those assets to obtain a good player to replace one of our many sucky players? I don’t understand why the center position is a priority (throw the kitchen sink) when our 1-3 are dreadful?
