Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Is this a trick question?

Ummm... VJ has a legit star ceiling. In no way, shape or form should Keyonte or Sexton be in the equation when we decide how we'll use Edgecombe. Both of those guys are 7th or 8th guys on a contender.

I'm familiar with your POV on Edgecombe. I'd like to hear from some others who are more reasoned than you are.

So when VJ Edgecombe measures out around 6'3"/185 lbs, basically like a Jordan Clarkson or Monta Ellis, are people going to want to draft him to play ahead of Keyonte and Collin Sexton in our rotation? I get that VJ has defensive playmaking, but those other guys both already give us 20 pts and 5 asts pretty consistently.
I actually like VJ. I like his defense the most. If he had those measurables I would think twice. Best case might be a trade down and pick up some more draft assets.

Now If he comes in and measures 6-5 as he is listed i might have him 3rd (might) on my list. I just hate not picking bpa. Jazz could always move Sexton or George.

Unless VJ has an amazing pre-draft process, I don't think teams will take him in the top 3. They'll take Coop, Dylan and Ace ahead of him. I think VJ will primarily be seen as an off-ball 2-guard. He's not advanced enough yet to play on the ball full time. If you watch Baylor games, they're initiating through Robert Wright and letting him create off the dribble, play after play. If VJ had a more advanced handle, burst and change of direction, he could beat defenders consistently. But until that happens, he still mostly relies on other guys to set him up.

I also do think he's going to measure out on the smaller side. I'd be very curious to know where the Jazz have VJ vis a vis Kasparas.

Which is ok with the jazz because the they already have a 6'5" pg.

it's getting to the point with the rise of collier, however, that the jazz would be better off drafting a non-pg. though i guess a big one like harper, kasparas or demin would still work next to collier, so scratch that.

Traore just helped his extremely bad team to a victory in what seems like it could have been a playoff type setting against a very good Paris team (Best in France). He lead the team with 20pts and 5 assists in 26 minutes. Contextually this might be the most impressive performance of any of the draft prospects so far this year.

Recently saw a headline from an article or video a couple months ago asking whether Traore was intentionally tanking his draft stock to end up with the Spurs.

I haven't noticed anything like that here, so am I right to believe that was just clickbait?

I never saw that, but can pretty much guarantee that's not what is happening, especially now that they have Fox.

He's gonna be a tank that can fly tho. JC and Ellis are terrible comparables.
