Yeah, but if we would have gotten 3rd or 4th we couldn't say that we've never won the lottery. We would have a less strong complaint.

Are you seriously comparing trade values for a guy who was on an expiring contract and half way out the door when he was traded to a guy who is under contract for 4 years? Pacers KNEW Siakam was gonna hit FA 5 months from the trade because Siakam didnt wanna do an extension as part of the trade (due to 105% limit being less than what he thought he would get from FA)... and they took a leap of faith they wont lose him for nothing.

Also as far as skillsets go... it entirely depends on whether you value on-ball or off-ball skills. You can make hindisight arguments about Siakams defense and shooting improving with the Pacers... but its not like he was considered a good shooter or defender at the time of the trade... wherever the fault in those may have been.
Fans react way too strongly to Lauri's bad recent season. I dont think most teams are doing the same. People know he was put in a position to fail.
He's 7' Klay Thompson. He's a game changer for the right roster. The Spurs would be my favorite to win it next year if they get Lauri next to Fox/Wemby assuming they can fill out the back end of their rotation with some quality.

Agreed, I dont think there is a GM in the league that doesnt know what happened with Lauri last year and thinks that's who he projects to be the rest of his career.
Sometimes I think there should be an IQ test for a sub board on here.
