Following Potential 2025 Draftees

It feels like there have been a ton of similar prospects to him that have busted. I could be wrong as I haven't followed the draft that closely for that many years.
there really haven't. guys who produce at europe's highest levels in their teens rarely bust. it's not unheard of, of course, but it's rare. and it makes sense. they are playing against grown men who have played in the league, were stars in college, etc - but it's not fake basketball like the g league - it's legit hard to put up big numbers. if you can do that at 18/19, it's rare you won't become a useful player in the NBA.

most of the euro busts over the years are guys who rarely played and/or didn't produce much in the top levels or who put up numbers at the junior levels.

My comment had nothing to do with his number of assists. It was in reference to some high level reads and the ability to identify an advantage.

I think we get caught on this board a lot with "here are his stats now at 18, so thats all he will be at 24 with NBA development".
That's fine, but we are talking about his floor here. At least by my definition a floor involves things that a prospect has demonstrated with enough frequency that it feels repeatable.

Essengue is a fine prospect. Using the 5th pick on him ****ing madness. Truly.
Literally LOL'n.........where in this board have I ever said we should take him at 5?

^Thats the name of the thread^. So, like, we talk about potential 2025 draftees. All of em.

It doesn't feel like 12pts/5reb/1ast in one of the less good European leagues is great production, but I don't have a super great feel for this.

I know that Killian Hayes was a completely different prospect, but he was averaging 12pts/2reb/6ast on the same team.

Three things:
1. I didn’t say that you said that.
2. You did make a comp to Giannis which is probably about on par with saying he’s worth the 5th pick, perhaps even wilder.
3. This part of the thread about Essengue started with the eye-popping suggestion from @Ferguson_Mellochill that we should consider drafting Essengue with the 5th pick and you chimed into that stream of discussion to talk about how great it would be to draft Essengue.

Is Noa a wing or a really thin big?

Fears just has to get more efficient at what he's already shown. Noa has to become a completely different player than what he has already shown. I have to use way more imagination for Noa, which makes me much less confident.

I don't want either at 5, but Noa would be the much bigger reach.

Noa is ultimately a 4/3. His best position will be at the 4, but he can play the 3 as well.
Fears is small, and he'll likely have some defensive limitations. It takes some imagination to project he'll be a big-time scorer and playmaker in the NBA.
I think that if the Jazz don't want Ace at #5, some other teams will and the Jazz will be looking at a trade-back scenario. Maybe it's Washington. Maybe it's Brooklyn.
Wait til we see what Noa's draft stock looks like when he finishes his season and starts working out for teams. He's long, athletic and has some handling/passing/shooting to go with his defense.

A trade back scenario would make more sense, even though I would still hate it.

If this was last year and there were so few upside guys I might be down. This year there are just way more upside guys that I like more.
