Following Potential 2025 Draftees

The 2025 draft is officially a bust.

No reason to spend more time on it. Trade all our picks. On to the 2026 draft.

This is obviously hyperbole, but in all seriousness I'm not emotionally invested in any of the players in the draft this year. I'm still trying to find my, "homer pick" and it's hard to get excited/passionate about a draft when you don't have, "your guy."

Right... but he just didn't do it often because he wasn't really asked to... or maybe he wasn't good at it and that is why. I think all these guys have warts but Kon is "low upside" because of how he looks and that he has stubby arms.

Playing well with others is a feature... not a bug.

I'm also not discounting Tre... I think Kon and Tre belong in the same conversation... with Ace and VJ.
I will 100% admit that I don't like kon due to how he looks

I despise the "fit" talk with Philly. Every single player on the board sucks as a fit because 70% of the 76ers' cap is tied to Embiid and George for the next three years and all of these guys are very raw.

Fit has never mattered less for a team as their fortunes have nothing to do with this player they select. Whoever they pick is kind of irrelevant.
Yep. They should trade the pick

Has anybody ever been drafted and stashed in a league outside of Europe?

Looking at our second round picks and I have to imagine the strong preference there is a stash guy. Toohey and Zikarskey could make sense, but I don't know if I've ever heard of a player being stashed in the NBL.
Cody should be stashed in the g league for life.

You can always join us in the Yang Gang.
I think Yang is very interesting, but not someone that I can get really excited about.

The type of player I like is an underrated do everything defensive minded guard. Honestly VJ is the guy I would probably be a homer of in most drafts. He fits the bill except for the underrated part. It doesn't make much rational sense, but I would probably be going crazy about VJ if he was mocked in the late lottery, but when he's mocked at 3/4 it's harder for me to get excited.

When I type it out, it sounds really stupid, but is the reality of how my dumb brain works.

Nah, your brain is not dumb. Your posts provide considerable insights and are thoughtful. Keep up the good work! (Yes, I like VJ as a prospect too).

Bogey was what 3 inches taller and a considerably better athlete
Bojan is 6'7 and Kon is 6'6
Both crafty dudes that space the floor

I think Kon has more potential as a playmaker but if he winds up as a 16 ppg/4 rpg/4 apg guy like Bojan has been for his career, that's a win

I agree that there's absolutely no reason we should consider him at #5 because his upside is pretty damn limited

Don't quite get where your going with the 2nd statement. If your saying that we need to accurately judge which players are going 3rd and 4th, that is much more difficult than presumed.

Philly at 3 - All 3 of Ace/VJ/Tre are bad fits for them if they are trying to win now, with VJ being the best of the 3 because he can do things other than score. They could easily decide to pick Kon because he can fit into a role as he has proven at Duke. If they don't care about winning, sure they can get a project in Ace or overload on guard scoring with Tre. But Morey has 1 year left to not get fired. Would you bet your job on year 1 Ace Bailey? Or overload the guard rotation with a 4th guard? I have no idea what I would do if I was in that position. Probably pick Noa, Kon, VJ or someone else more ready to contribute immediately to winning (if trading is off the table).

Charlotte at 4 - The prevailing sentiment is that they like VJ, Ace and Tre would make them overly reliant on jumpers as their top 3 shot takers would be Lamelo, Brandon Miller, and Ace/Tre, it would not be good offense. They could do something out of left field like Maluach.

It could be a situation where Kon can go 3 or 4, just like Reed Sheppard did last year. The draft can do crazy things.

Now its true I can't see Philly or Charlotte picking Fears, Kas, or Queen. But that has more to do with their own roster constructions than some innate talent gap. For the Jazz, we should consider fully on ball guards like Fears and Kasparas. Or even a big man hub like Queen.

I say all this to highlight the fact that 3 and 4 are not easy to figure out. 2 or possibly all 3 of the consensus guys might be available at the Jazz pick. And I don't know if that's a good thing.
Not quite what I meant. Our FO has their priorities and preferences and they need to be absolutely sure about the top of their big board.

If they see 3-8 as "same tier" without preferences and cant project better than us about how they translate/develop then I'm gonna be real worried about our future.

Kas/Kon/Fears only come into play if the FO genuinely thinks those guys are better selections at 3, 4 or 5 than Tre/Ace/VJ.

I seriously hope they are not considering trading down. That is a a sign of either indecisiveness, risky gambling or quantity over quality thinking, and I want none of those.
