Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I would die laughing. Ultimate plot twist.
My worry is that Ace's shenanigans are screwing things up for the Jazz. If he went at 3 or in the top 4 as initially predicted, this would guarantee either Edgecomb or Johnson at 5. If Ace falls out of the top 4, there's a decent likelihood that both will be gone by 5. He's become the wildcard in the draft that may throw a money wrench in our works. While I would have initially been happy with Ace at 5, I now worry that whoever drafts Ace gets an incorrigible head case, something we want to avoid at all costs.

Okay, just sniffing around, I think this is what's happening....

The Jazz discussed a deal to move up to #3 with Philly.
Philly offered PG and 3 for Lauri + 5. Jazz declined.
Jazz offered Lauri + 21 for PG and 3. Sixers declined.

Jazz are now trying to acquire a second lottery pick ahead of the draft that Philly will agree to (without including Lauri in a trade).
That would complete a deal of Lauri + lotto pick for PG and 3.
Hence, the Jazz draft at #3 and #5.

This is just speculation based on various chatter.

Could be wrong, but I don't think the Hornets would draft Tre Johnson when they already have LaMelo. There've been reports of them having interest in Kon, if anybody.

But I wouldn't be surprised if they traded down with another team who ends up taking Ace.

What's Jake doing that nearly every other NBA reporter, podcaster, blogger, poster, etc are doing, i.e., "reporting" speculation, rumors, leaks, insider info, etc.? The vast majority of it is speculative or theoretical (if you like that phrase) in nature. It seems a bit disingenuous to get on Jake's case for following established common practice in the industry.

The problem is the way it was written in the article wasn’t theoretical. It was super vague on purpose to be interpreted in multiple ways.

Then he says it was theoretical and not reporting then says his reporting is misrepresented. See the problem with that?

I think a lot of those reporters want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to be reporters, but then they want to be able to say at any point "oh well, that wasn't a report, just some speculation" ... well if you are in the business of reporting, you should be extremely clear when you deviate from that and speculate or theorize...
