How did Ben Wallace struggle to make it? If you mean he wasn't sought out/expected to be good, sure, but when he got his opportunity he didn't struggle to make it. He played rotation minutes since his 2nd season in the NBA

I think Wallace would actually be a better player in the current NBA than he was in the 2000's. He would still be fit dependent just like he was with Detroit, but next to a spacing front court teammate he would still be a defensive force who can guard 1-5 and dominate the glass and he wouldn't have to guard as many burly centers.
I guess it depends on how you look at it. He was undrafted and was a fringe rotation player for three years. His 4th year he was solidly in rotation. His breakout was the 5th year.
He was on a spaced team in Detroit. Like, one of the most spaced teams of the era 1-4.
He averaged 18 mpg his 2nd season unless the stats pages I'm looking at didn't account for him not playing his first two years at all.

At the end of the day he's an all time dog and freak athlete. I just think he would be fine as long as he had the right players around him.
