Should forced turnovers be added as a steal to the defender's favor?

Don't you guys think that they should be added as a steal to the defender's box score account? Is it really that hard to stat it down?

No. I don't think forcing a TO is the same as a steal and I don't want to encourage NBA players who already look at stats too much and flop to much to do more of both.

Maybe could be counted as team steals, like team rebounds. But individually it would be vague most of the time and quite unnecessary in my opinion.

MLB doesn't have issues with ruling errors, etc. NBA might be too fast paced to put that much work into stats.

Good payers shine through either way so I don't know if there's a need.

Good point. It's just that sometimes when a player traps the offender near the lane and make him step out of bounds it's a pure steal position to me. But yeah. Maybe it's not that important of an aspect.

Slapping the ball out of a players hand is at least as valuable as a blocked shot.

I'm not a stat geek by any means but it should be quantified somehow.

The pace is a big part of it. And this shows you exactly how slow baseball is, when you can watch at normal speeds and clearly pick out every single error anyone makes. Yawn.

Also there is enough subjectivity in the NBA as it is, what with them needing to keep track of how many fouls they have called on LeBron so he doesn't pick up #4 and such.
