Only this site goes "ummmm what about keep Kanter, Trade Favors". Only this ****ing site.
I am not wild about Favors and I don't really understand why anyone would be. It seems like this narrative that he's this incredible athlete (10% of the time) and defensive player has taken precedence over how he actually plays. And he is extremely inconsistent in both intensity and production. And at this point, he's had every opportunity to ascend and be The Jazz's guy in his 4 years here, including being the guy that got the extension.
In contrast, I feel like the only consistent opportunities Kanter's gotten are him getting screwed by someone or something (NCAA/Fenerbahce, logjam his first two years, serious shoulder injury that took his offseason, and then whatever happened this year). He's been apt to boneheaded plays but I don't think he's as dumb as he looks at times. I think his getting screwed has affected his psyche and that's what you see sometimes. I think the only remedy is time on the floor and a good coach would be helpful. I also am a disciple that he can be a stretch big with a punishing inside game (which I believe would make him the only one) and thus a matchup nightmare if paired with an athletic and very able defender and also a monolithic offensive player.

I think Kanter at PF is a better pairing with Embiid than Favors. Kanter is quicker, shoots better, spaces the floor better and passes better. With Embiid and Gobert behind him, and with something to play for, I doubt people will complain much about his defense. I like Favors, but he's limited offensively to just a couple spots on the floor. Plus, I think he would net more in a trade.
Favors could get us another pick in the Top 6--e.g., Aaron Gordon. Finding a backup PF to play behind Kanter would be pretty easy. Burke/Burks/Gordon/Kanter/Embiid -- has solid offense, defense and rebounding
That said, I don't think the Jazz need to be in a hurry to trade anyone.

I'm not sure the Jazz trade Favors for anything outside the top 3, I would highly doubt it in fact.

This is true becuase he is far superior than Kanter in the eyes of 98% of the basketball watching world. So why trade him? I see that you are not advocating trading anyone, but the thought process is what I am curious about.

Embiid is a PROJECT. Gobert is a PROJECT.
You don't need to trade Favors OR Kanter right now even if the Jazz go with Embiid in the draft. All you have to do is decide NOT to play Marvin at PF. Then you can give Favors and Kanter 30 mins each and divide the rest of the time between Embiid and Gobert.
Why trade low right now? If/when Embiid were to win the battle for the 5, then the Jazz see who best complements him and trade the other. Hopefully both are playing well at that point and bring back some good assets.

Out of the top six picks, the Jazz picking 4th is the least likely scenario.
I don't think I'll worry about who the Jazz might pick at 4.
