I think the Jazz needed some piss and vinegar on the team and Raja provides that. 3 years is scary, but its better than giving Mathews 20+ million in that 3 year span.

Even then, 3.33 million (I'd bet it's an even contract) is by no means financially crippling.

I like the move. He is a way better bargain for the Jazz. But there is no way he can play 35 minutes like Matthews. We better be signing somebody with some lateral quickness because Bell has lost a step.

Bell: Has lost some of his lateral quickness and he is 34
Hayward: Does not have the lateral quickness or strength to guard 2 guards.
AK: Never had Lateral quickness
Miles: We tried to use him at the 2 guard on defense. But guys just blow past him.

Matthews was/is a little better than bell, being younger and probably stronger and quicker but I think overall they compare very closely to each other. So depending on health and age decline of raja, the $$$ savings is about as good as the jazz could have done n the situation.
