Frankenstorm Set to Hit the East Coast Next Week

I have no idea if this is real. Shark in NJ

This boat sank earlier this morning. They reported a crew of 16. 14 were pulled out of the water and a few hours later they reportedly found one more alive. one still missing. People are wondering why it was out in the storm anyways. I guess it's usually a touring ship that cruises from port to port.

You posters in the storm area, keep posting from time to time so we know you're safe. Because the peace of mind of the rest of us should be first and foremost on your minds.

Here's an article about the ship.

I know that hindsight is 20/20, but whoever decided it was acceptable for that ship to be out today was overconfident. Unfortunately, if the captain made the decision, he is missing and likely paid for his mistake with his life.

I hope all our posters that where in the path of the storm are ok. That and the millions of others affected. God Bless you all.

I'm fine. Storm seems done though wind gusts may still be around 40-45 at times. No rain currently but I think there are supposed to be some showers later. Power is out here like it is in a lot of Jersey. I'm currently running my big screen tv and staggering my fridges on my generator. I think I should have enough gas to last me through tomorrow, perhaps even a day or two beyond by which point I'll be able to go out and get more gas even if the power is out which it may be as they're saying 7-10 days possibly. The only negative aspects for me so far are that my sump pump is backed up (clogged?) and not working. It's just about to start to very slowly spill over. That's annoying and shouldn't be that bad I hope. There's also about 30 or so shingles in my front yard but the roof doesn't look too bad.

In everyone's opinion, are these something even claim-worthy with my insurance company? I mean, I feel like my insurance will just go up if I file a claim and that it will cost me more in the long run.

Wes, i actually work in a state farm in idaho. i can understand that there is a lot of stuff going on over there on the east coast right now and it might be difficult to get a midigation crew out there, but alot of midigation crews will ofer free est. i would start there. Then from that point you can decide if it is worth filing a claim. depending on who you are with and how long you have been with them you could potentially loose a "claim free discount" and that will increase your over all premium.

I'd keep a close eye on that water level with your clogged pump. Water can do alot more damage then you can see with your eye.

Very solid advice.
