Free Agent Rumors Thread

I've decided there's no way Gordo gets the max.

It's just not possible.

That's kind of what I've been thinking also. So far, it's been a bunch of posturing and rumors. I guess we'll find out in a few days, but I don't see him getting an outrageous offer. As such, I fully expect the Jazz to match whatever offer he does get.

The longer this goes on, the better I feel about everything with Gordo. I know there's no reason I should feel that way and that the Lebron domino (or Bosh?) has to topple first to get things going but my gut tells me Lindsey is going to pull off another minor miracle and we're going to re-sign Gordo at something like 5 years, 58M.

Hornets pleased with meeting with Gordon Hayward today, but Jazz maintain stance that they plan to match any offer sheet for him."

Looks like Gordon left his princess party without a deal.

After losing free agent Josh McRoberts to the Miami Heat, the Charlotte Hornets are pursuing free agent Marvin Williams to take over the power forward slot, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Hornets and Williams have discussed parameters of a deal, but no agreement is imminent, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Williams, 28, is perhaps the best available power forward left on the free-agent market and it could be paramount to the Hornets to secure him.

The Hornets are left with a gaping hole at the position, where it is unclear if 2013 No. 4 overall pick Cory Zeller is ready to step into the starting lineup of a team with expectations to return to the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Williams averaged nine points and five rebounds in 25 minutes per game for Utah in 2013-14. After Atlanta made Williams the No. 2 pick in the 2005 NBA draft, he played seven seasons for the Hawks before a trade to Utah two seasons ago. For his career, Williams has averaged 10.8 points and 5.1 rebounds.

The Jazz still value Williams and haven't given up hope of re-signing him, but his desire for contract security may exceed what Utah's willing to pay, sources said.

Charlotte finished a two-day visit with Utah restricted free agent Gordon Hayward on Tuesday, but has yet to decide whether it will deliver him an offer sheet, sources said. Hayward is a play-making small forward, and the Jazz have maintained they're determined to keep him by matching any offer sheet.

As much as i love me some burks and hayward competes with minutes with burks, i would be thrilled if lindsey pulled this off.

Hayward is a solid player and makes the team better imo. 5 years 58 million is a dream come true contract for the jazz and jazzfanz

Hornets aren't waiting on any of the "tier 1" free agents like Melo either. They have no reason to wait if they think Hayward is their guy. We'll see what happens in the next 24 hours.

True.
But teams like Cleveland could re-emerge if LBJ signs with Miami. They could turn around a take a chance on signing Hayward to a MAX deal and see if Utah is really serious about matching. In this case, I wish the 7-day waiting period was still in effect.

Utah, New Orleans, Brooklyn, Houston have expressed interest in free agent G/F Francisco Garcia, league source says. Dialogue is ongoing.

Maybe this is the unknown free agent who visited.
