He would not apart of the core young guys that we are building this team with.
He is a scrub. We have enough guys we are trying to develop. And if we sign Hayward the rotation is already filled.
We don't need anyone else.

Trey - Exum - Lucas
Burks - Exum
Hayward - Hood
Kanter - Novak - Evans
Favors - Gobert

We just traded for Novak. And they said they want him backing up Kanter. We just drafted Hood and if we sign Hayward. The 3 and 4 are already set. We needed a stretch 4. We have one now. We needed a SF and we have one now.
Aminu would only hinder Hayward's, Hood's, and Kanter's development. These guys all need the most playing time possible.
If he's an awful scrub then he's perfect for you because he won't get minutes.

The fact that you think player development is mostly about getting minutes is pretty shortsighted too. It is extremely important, yes, but players don't really get to hone their skills during games. Their skills are put to use and reinforced during the games.

You are simply far too emotionally attached to these players. The Jazz have no one who can defend forwards and maybe Aminu could do that. Maybe he'd be better than Novak and move him to the end of the bench, or are you concerned about Novak's developmental minutes also? What if someone gets injured? And if he sucks really bad, then he'll be super cheap and won't play. It's a win-win. If Rodney Hood doesn't become an all-star, it's not gonna be because of some scrub who stole minutes from him.

Im certain the Pelicans didnt plan on Aminu playing 2000 minutes the last two seasons, but due to injury he stepped up.

Hes not a minimum player.

Dallas apparently has interest in him. In this game vs Dallas, he started when Davis was injured and grabbed 20 rebounds in 34 minutes.

(if you're unfamiliar with Aminu, check this video out)

Hes 24, over-sized, athletic, plays both forward positions, stays in great shape, has no ego whatsoever, and will play for cheap, whats not to like?? He also does little things to win games.

Bro, we already should have Hayward to win games.

We tried having our young players develop by sitting them on the bench and letting them hone their skills in practice.
How many players were wasted through Jerry Sloan's philosophy. Jerry and Corbin were behind the times. When guys stayed in college fro 3-4 years it would prepare them for the NBA.
All of our young players are missing game experience. That is how these young players develop. If you going to draft young talented players you don't let them sit the bench. Makes no sense.
It doesn't work. Sloan proved that.

Novak spreads the floor. Which allows floor spacing. Which allows them to actually run an offense. They just said that Novak is the back up 4. The draft pick they received in that trade did not matter to them. We are not going to trade for Novak and his contract and not plan on playing him??? Spacing is one of the most important things we needed last year. I blame the defense on Corbin. And I think our defense will be fine next year. Somewhere between 15-20 on the rankings.
We drafted Hood to back up Hayward.
Why would we make all these moves to sign Aminu???? Makes no sense. If we were a playoff contender and had shooters who could already spread the floor. I wouldn't mind signing a guy like Aminu. but he doesn't fit what we are doing.

And PointGod_AlecBurks you can show me highlight reels all you want. I can make highlight reels of guys who are now playing overseas and couldn't make it in the pro's. It doesn't mean anything.

The only reason he is not a minimum player is because he is younger. He will be the same player when he is 28 and 29. And that is when he is a minimum player and teams give up. because of his age he will get paid more because teams are still hoping he develops. Well 4 years is enough. The guy hasn't improved.

Playing 25 minutes per game and scoring 7 points and 6 rebounds per game while shooting 29% from 3 and 66% from the free throw line.............Wow if this is stepping up then we could build a roster of amazing fringe NBA talent. So excited. Lets trade Kanter, Hayward and Hood. And give all the minutes to Aminu and could maybe average 8 points and 7 rebounds..............

pgab, what are your thoughts on my amino/james posey comparison? obviously posey became a solid 3 pt shooter but...

IMO Aminu is a better athlete and has a better body. He can credible guard in the post and he is a very good rebounder. Posey had better perimeter defensive footwork and skills. Also Posey could shoot.

I agree with that. I don't see how their games relate at all. One plays close to the basket. One plays near the perimeter.

I see him as a Marvin Williams without an outside shot.

You had me until this post. Corbin wasn't "behind the times", he sucked balls as a coach. And Sloan? GTFO with that stupidity.
