Was super excited about what I saw from Hayward. It looks like he's finally going to be used correctly. Yes, he didn't shoot a very good % from the floor, but he's always been used as a spot up player, and third option behind Al and Millsap. Hayward just needs time to grow into this new role. If he does, and with his ability to get to the ft line, and shoot it better I can see him going 22/5/6 easily.

During his rookie year I said he had potential to be more then just an Allstar. Against the Blazers I saw this all he needs to do is improve his % and grow in this new great role. As Hayward progresses in this role so will Favors. In my mine if we need to let one of the c4 go, it can't be Hayward.

Thoughts...
 
We need more shooters now that Hayward is going to have the ball in his hands, driving, kicking, etc.

I've liked what he's done so far.

Anybody else notice that new move he's done a few times? The fake, scoop under, of the glass shot.

Agree with needing more shooters, and he also needs to work on shooting off the dribble.

Where is this coming from. The fact that he is a career 40% 3pt shooter or the fact that he gets to the line at a great rate and has proven he knows how to score at a good rate.

We need more shooters to keep the defense from collapsing on Favors and Kanter more than the other way around.
 
I have seen Haywards improvement.

As much as I like him he is not a #1 option on any team.

I think he can be a great #2 (Robin, not Batman)

I did not like that he did not demand the ball down the stretch the last game. He let Burks (1/11) and others take shots.

His team, his ball.

Hopefully Kanter becomes that first option with Hayward as a strong second. Burks and Burke are capable of stepping up big time in an offensive way as well.

Have you watched the preseason games? Hayward is beating his man off the dribble, forcing a big to collapse on him. He got fouled on jump shots twice in the last game because is plays spacing where it pulls the double team. Last year your comment was true. So far in the preseason it's not. He did a lot of improvement last summer and has had not recognition of that off of this board because everyone already has their minds made up about him.
 
When Boler or Harpring say something like 'it's Haywards team', i get an uneasy feeling. I have always felt that Hayward is more like a Jeff Hornacek or Manu Ginobili kind of player, essential, great team player but not the front line titan. I thought that Favors would be that but even that I'm not seeing, it isn't in his personality. It is in Kanters if he can put it all together (which I also didn't see coming). I'm getting to the point where I will have to just sit back and watch what happens.

He doesn't beat his man well enough driving right to left for the wing defender to collapse in. The backup big is adequate help, and naturally his assists would go to that spot.

He gets the defense to collapse a tiny bit in pnr but his lack of a floater makes it less necessary for the wings to come in. Besides, he seems to be shooting the quick pullups out of pnr when his man goes over the top. When his man goes underneath he's driving and drawing fouls from his man, or pulling the help big and again assisting to that spot.

Seems to me he can beat his man going north to south, which is also normally helped defend by the inside big. If the wing drops in then it doesn't really matter if you park a 33% or 42% shooter out there. It's not enough of a difference to alter every other team concept for this one rare play.

I love your optimism, but I think you're setting yourself up for a let down. Hayward has had several really nice games in his career, only to always be followed by a 1-10 shooting 4/5 point game. Inconsistency is his middle name. We're seeing it again in the preseason. How about if we see if Hayward can string together 5-6 games in a row averaging 20+ ppg before we start talking about him attaining All-Star/Superstar status. Baby steps...

Don't have time to answe this now but I will and a couple others as far as him being the 1 or 2 option
 
So he's like what 22 or 23? He'll be in the NBA for at least ten more years, nobody knows how a retrospective of his career will look. He seems to improve each year, that is good.
 
If Hayward can improve his shooting % to around 48% then look out. He will be highly sought for in nearly every fantasy basketball league in the world.
 
Hayward should be a 3rd option, Kanter a 2nd option, and some stud we don't have on the team yet should be the 1st option.
 
Yes but the question is were are we getting this stud you are talking about from? Trade? Draft? Not from FA's. This is what we have right now and unless they really are bad we aren't getting the player you are talking about. Plus if they are that bad then that player really isn't going to get us a chip anyway.

Draft.
We will be really bad cause none of our young guys have played much, burke injured, bench sucks.

We get our stud in the draft with our top 5 pick, still have our talented young guys (but now with more experience), lots of money to spend on quality guys to fill out the roster/shore up the bench, plus golden states pick.

We compete right away with that scenario.

Its really not that complicated..... the tank is going to work guys.

Next year we make the playoffs as a 6, 7, or 8 seed..... then in 2015 we start to be contenders for championship
