So does that mean he fouled out?

I thought you could get 6 to foul out.


I hate that coaches freak out when someone gets a few fouls. It's essentially like Gobert did foul out since those two fouls made the coach feel like he was unable to put him on the court.

At the end of the game I bet Gobert ends up with less than 6 fouls so it will have been unnecessary to sit him due to the two fouls

That doesn't really make sense. The idea of benching him with two fouls is to prevent him from potentially having 4 or more at the start of the second half thus making it more likely that he would foul out and unable to finish the game. If he ends up with less than six fouls then you could make the case that benching him was what enabled that to happen.

That said I would have let him play with 2 fouls. I would draw the line at 3, but then again I'm not being millions of dollars to make these decisions so my opinion is not worth much

What I'm saying is that if he was left in he was unlikely to get 4 first half fouls anyways and unlikely to foul out. But by benching him you are guaranteed limiting his minutes when you may not have even needed to.


And if you leave him in and he does foul out then at least you know you got every minute out of him that you possibly could.

Traditionally you sit for the rest of the half when you pick your third. I understand Quin's thinking. Why risk it when we're ahead by so much? But once they cut it to under 15, Rudy should have been put back in.

Yeah I agree with that. Yy only point, which I did a bad job of explaining, was that I disagreed with Fishes idea that if Gobert doesn't foul out it was pointless to sit him.
