Observations:

#1 Still happy with the season. We desperately needed a superstar and every team needs waves of guys like O'Neale. What a great season regardless of what happens in Game 5.

#2 Stretch 4 is a huge need. Parker, Tobias Harris, maybe a draft pick. I don't know. We have to improve our starting PF spot. That doesn't mean Favors has to go, but we need somebody since Gobert is so offensively limited.

#3 Exum probably just got a cheap deal. It may be short term, but his injury tonight was crazy and just hurt his value. In the 1st quarter, he looked like a $15 million player. After the injury, he is probably a midlevel player at best. His value probably dropped in half in less than a game.

#4 The refs sucked, but we could have won in spite of them. Our execution was lacking all night.

#5 We have earned more league and fan respect this year than last year. We are relevant and the future is bright.

Stretch 4 is huge. I think Faves played his last home game tonight which is sad, but I think he gets paid more by some other team this summer.
 
My observations:
Houston is better than the Jazz. The refs allow Houston to maul jazz players while Utah get hits with ticky-tack fouls. Houston has long athletic defenders that play tough defense.
Jazz need more offensive players.
What if Rubio had played?
DM needs to work on his jump shot. It really failed him against the Rockets. He is not ready to be a PG in the NBA.
Exum needs to work on his jump shot. He got screwed on fouls tonight and then gets injured again. His inability to stay healthy is why no one should be paying him too much. I loved his aggressiveness in the first half.
Rudy was exposed in this series. His offensive isn't good enough. He needs to develop some kind of outside 10 ft. I don't blame Rudy for Capella going off. It was obvious that he was caught in no man's land if he came out to cover the penetrating guard then they just lob it to Capella. However, he got muscled out of position several times.

Jazz need another offensive star and a stretch four. I think the Jazz need to get a better backup PG so when Rubio goes down. DM can stay at SG and the backup PG (Rozier) can take over. Jazz need to improve their bench. They could do this by moving Ingles to the bench. Bring in an all-star type player at the SF position. Joe could be six man of the year material.

It was clearly obvious that the Jazz were frustrated, I saw Rudy and DM arguing a little. The problem now is the Rockets are in the Jazz head. Unless Utah goes off again on 3pts I don't see them winning in Houston again. I will be rooting for them but it doesn't look good for a come back especially now the Jazz are all banged up. I am bummed that Rubio didn't get to play because I think it would have been a different series with him.

Does a player's value really drop because they pull a hamstring?

Are you just assuming Dante has entered the realm of damaged goods?

I think teams look at some strong defense on Harden and some high level ability to get to the rim before they stress too much about a sore hammy...

My stretch 4 targets would be:

Tobias Harris - averaged like 20ppg and 40% from 3. He has an expiring deal and LA would be wise to rebuild this summer. Nonguaranteeds, #21 and maybe 2nds or a future protected 1st?

Demarre Carroll - his comprehensive game would cover some of Gobert's weaknesses. We could probably get him for cheap.

Jabari Parker - offensively, he would seem perfect. Might take some sacrifice to afford him, but I trust DL to know if the sacrifice would be worth it or not.

Danilo Gallinari - supposedly, we had interest in him when he was a free agent recently. I'm not a big fan, but I bet we could pick up an asset if we took him off LA's hands.

Mbah a Moute - take him off Houston. He is a little small, but he would be fine against everybody except NOLA (Boogie and AD).

Joe Ingles - if Favors walked, we could use the entire off-season crafting a lineup with Rubio, DM, O'Neale, Ingles and Gobert. Probably our best option as of today.

Jae Crowder - I like him better off the bench, but maybe the off-season allows for us to make it happen.

LoPo - Sounds like we have limited options.

If there is no one in the draft we like when #21 rolls around I hope we pull the trigger on a deal like the Tobias one you mentioned. I honestly can barely recall him, but
his numbers add up. I'll take your word for it.

Demarre Carroll is a fan favorite and put up decent numbers last year. He is always welcome here.

Never been a big Danilo Gallinari fan so I'm not sure I'd get too excited about him here.

Yes.

For the record, I like Exum. X has a ton of potential, but he also has an injury history that can't be ignored. Simply put, he has played about 49% of possible games that was possible for his career due to injury (142 of a possible 328). Now he's injured again. In no way does he actively do it to himself, but he's turning into Raul "Knees" Lopez. He's shown flashes, but that's all there's ever been with him. If the Jazz want to give him a small year, small sum deal, then I'm good with that. However, anything over the MLE and I think Utah needs to call it good and let him go.

The Jazz were exposed in a number of ways in this series, and I think issue one is the lack of a good backup PG. We're all talking about how Favors and Gobert can't work together again. There's a reason for that. It's not a coincidence that we started winning when Ricky heated up. With even a respectable PG (post-break Rubio), Utah can have three shooters on the floor, which is enough for make the Favors/Gobert tandem work. But without it, we're screwed. The fact that DM was started out of position and an undrafted rookie (Royce) was started over both Exum and Neto has to make some folks think. DM can definitely function as an emergency 3rd PG (he only broke a Stockton franchise record in the process of this series), but he's better at the deuce. Plain and simple. I know Spida is ****ing superhuman, but that's a lot to ask of a rookie, no matter who they are.

But in any case, I no longer see X as the QB of the future for Utah. That said, with some seasoning, he could be a good backup PG, a change of pace bench scorer type of player that we need. I'd be okay with the team investing in that. But Utah must address the backup PG issue in the off season.

Gallo would be a great fit other than missing 3/4 of the season with various lame injuries.

Throw everything at Philly to get Saric. Zero chance but he would be perfect

Interesting. I get the impression the Jazz FO won't share your views...
However, there is a chance the Jazz see Exum as a 2 or a 3 in the modern NBA. So getting a back-up pg and keeping Exum aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.

I am totally off the Saric wagon. The dude is less athletic than Ingles. He shoots line drives.
I do absolutely love his will and fight for boards etc. And he can bully his way to the rim.
He might be a much better fit here than Philly actually...

Agreed. Just stating things how I see them.
 
Rubio gets hurt more than Exum.

Exum will be a solid backup to Rubio next year. Also Exum isn't good off the ball. He needs the ball in his hands to be good at least until he develops a reliable 3 point shot.

We do need 1 more great scorer to help take some of the load, attention and pressure off Mitchell. But Rubio would have helped a ton win that in this series.
 
This year, we are paying Burks $10+, Thabo $5+, Udoh $3+ and Jerekbo $3+ to not really contribute all that often. That's $20+ million to guys who barely have gotten on the floor this postseason. We shouldn't be afraid to spend anything short of $10 million to a guy who might do a whole lot more than just contribute in the next few years. Now if he demands $15, I can understand the hesitation. However, keeping him shouldn't be a discussion if it's around $10.
