Game Thread: Jazz @ Clippers 11/3/19 19:00 MST

Man I feel like Malcom brogdan would look real good next to Mitchell. Everyone said the bucks wouldn't let him go though......

Rudy is best at catching overhead passes and lobs. Anything that involves Rudy having to raise his arms after catching the pass will lower his effiency significantly(a bounce pass, for example). That's why Ingles is so important, being the only passer on this team who possesses the height necessary to make that sort of passes to Rudy on a consistent basis.
Hopefully Exum will help with this

We've heard the expression, "if ain't broke, don't fix it?" The end of last year we had a sweet running offensive machine that was leading the lead in dunks, averaging way over 20 assists per game and blowing out teams left and right. A tweak here, a tweak there with our outside shooting and we could easily have gone from 50 wins to 55-60 wins this year. But no, we make wholesale changes and not only is our defense and rebounding worse...so is our OUTSIDE shooting, the very thing we were trying to fix! Did anyone in the front office say "Hey, let's think this thing out! We've got a well oiled offensive machine going with a strong defense and rebounding to boot, do we really want to break this all up for a 30 million dollar question mark?"

Sorry Carolina but I'm not buying it. If we proved anything last year, it's that we couldn't get past Houston with the way the team was constructed. And that team had topped out on it's potential from what I could tell. But we couldn't hit an open three in that series to save our lives, nor could we penetrate. This team is still in the training wheel stage and yet the eye test tells me we have so many more options now and we can be an offensive juggernaut as well as the best defensive team in the league. Watching the Clipper feed last night and Brian Sieman made a seminal (sorry couldn't resist) observation that he expects Utah to be a "powerhouse" team this year with anywhere from the one to the four seed in the west. Corey Maggette didn't dispute it either.

I don't like it when people blame the refs anytime we lose. We lost this game because we couldn't stop the Clippers from scoring on offensive rebounds.
Well, that's a different topic, doesn't address what you said earlier that was stupid, but if the refs are screwing you , then that will make you appear to play bad.

We couldn’t have attained him and Bojan.
Bojan is nice but I'd rather have Brogdon and Portis. Not better players, but better fit. Portis can secure boards for us without giving up too much on shooting. He is terrible on D but we have enough pieces to cover him on that. Plus he actually has all the physical tools to be a solid defender, unlike Bojan. He's just been thrown into way too many toxic environments that had no regards to winning basketball

That’s fair but we have zero idea if Brogdon would have signed here so discussing it as if we could’ve gotten him is sort of an act in futility.

I know it is still earlier and probably too soon to evaluate the team. However, the rebounding and turnovers are bothersome. Our offense has been inconsistent and the Jazz have struggled at times with the same things they did last year which is missing open shots. Jazz need a better PF. I love Oneale but he is playing out of position. His defense is great but his offense has been invisible for the most part. He should be coming off the bench and not starting at PF. He is 6' 4". DM and Bogy are the guys who can create their own shots. Conley is a mess. Except for one game he has been horrible. What is shocking is how bad his passing is. A lot of his shots rim out because he puts too much spin on the ball. I am hoping that he will improve because the Jazz NEED him to be more efficient and score about 18 pts 6-8 assists a night.
