Game Thread? Jazz @ Warriors. 2nd Round. 1st Game. (8:30 MT 5/2/17)

We need to start putting together a longer range plan to take this team to the next level. What will get us there?

- healthy Favors. He just cant put a string of good games together. For him its not a talent issue, but a health one. He'd be giving us 16 a night, and a ton of boards if healthy

-consistency from key players. Hill, and Hayward have to bring it every game.

-secondary players cant have off games against the elite. Ingles and Hood seem to be the difference makers. When they are on we win.

-Diaw. Good against some teams, but is not someone you can play 20 mins against an elite team and expect to win. Need to upgrade, and have him on bench as last resort.

-Need more toughness. Bolomboy anyone? Booker type player? We will never win a championship without a mean mother****er on the team.

-Exum. It's time to play Exum. Mack is not part of our future. Exum has shown flashes this year. Let him make his mistakes now, and grow.

If we had a healthy Favors, a tough energy player, good games from our key players we would have a chance to win. I can visualize it.

i love having to explain the context of an articulate point, because some people cant read the conversation like 5 posts above the one they are commenting on.

Pretty condescending for someone who can't see how this super team is different to the ones you mentioned, which obviously prompted the initial post.

What kills me about Lyles.

He scored two times close to each other, then is lazy getting back, and gives up an and one.

It was nice to see him put the ball in the bucket though.

Im not even worried about Lyles. Kid has a long way to go.

That is a huge concern.

When I said that Im not even worried about Lyles, I meant that in the sense that we are in the 2nd round of the playoffs playing arguably the best team in the league. Lyles is not on my radar right now. He's a bench warmer getting garbage minutes. My concern our squad beating the Warriors.

It was my girlfriends birthday so I missed the game. I just watched the game on dvr.
I watched using the fast forward a bunch.
Watching the warriors makes you really hate superstar teams. They are unbeatable when all the stars just join one team. I wonder how many fans will start to give up watching when it's not worth watching anymore. I've already had a handful of friends who don't watch pro basketball cause of things like that.

I've said it before, the league has a Problem because what happens in July is more important than what happens in may and June. the season is irrelevant, the first two rounds of the playoffs are at risk of becoming irrelevant too.

Actually this game our defensive plan kind of worked. We played real close to 3P shooters and dared them to drive inside to face Gobert. In the end they struggled shooting the three. They made 7 threes and if I'm not wrong 4 of them come from transition/fastbreak.

Our problem was offense this game. If not for the poor offense we would not have allowed 100 points. Bad execution, forced shots, turnovers.. Actually any missed shot was a problem leading to a quick GSW play. Sometimes we executed well and found the wide open shot but Hill and Hayward bricked them.

We could not get anything going except some stretch in Q3 when we got easy buckets inside. This worked for us in G7 vs LAC, may work here too because our shooters are kind of cold.

Overall this was a good opportunity to steal a game as GSW did not look like their best but we did not make open shots and we turned the ball over often, made tons of unforced errors. We were really slow getting back to defense too and the transition points were the difference in this game.

Jazz had 13 turnovers - felt like they had 25. GSW seems to capitalize on every mistake you make..

Everyone complaining about mack really just needs to shut up. We all know we're going to lose 4-0 or 4-1. It isn't Mack's fault.

No, it isn't Mack's fault, but against the Warriors he is not a good option because to beat them we have play lockdown defense, which is something he is not capable of. We also need to control the pace of the game, which means controlling the boards and limiting turnovers. They killed us in transition because of our turnovers and bad shot selection. But I think Quinn doesn't trust Exum or Neto out there in such pressure-filled games. The trouble with Lyles over Diaw is that Lyles can't rebound and will be prone to making bad decisions (taking ill-advised shots) and turnovers. I think we also need to attack the rim like Rodney did, so that goes for Hayward, Hill, and JJ. We also need to feed Rudy because he has a mismatch inside.

It is nice to not see an abundance of panic and doom and gloom on here after a loss.
