An interesting stat study would be game attendance to FT percentage, meaning does the volume of the crowd affect player's FT's? Just a thought I had since the Phoenix arena was basically empty and Gobert looked like Steve Nash from the FT line. Certainly it wouldn't have an affect for a lot of players shots, but I wouldn't be surprised if it affected some players. A better study (but much harder to obtain the necessary information) would be the decibel volume to FT percentage.
For an elite FT shooter I doubt it makes any difference but for a fringe FT I bet it's a huge difference.
Judging by this one definitive pre-season game we are going to win 64 games this season. Gobert will average 25 pts, 16 rebs, 5 blocks and 14 turnovers per game.
Aftefr watching the game would like to say this about the Jazz, They pass the ball great. Great ball movement makes for exciting basketball to watch. IMO. Only problem with Jazz and it is what I have said all summer and that's they don't have a star to finish off plays. Exum is very talented, Anyone can see this but he is still so raw. More raw then most here want to admit but its true. If he becomes an all star it will take about 5 years. Knowmost don't want to hear this but it is true. So Jazz have a bunch of great role players and No Alpha so they need to make a trade or hope and pray to Joesph Smith that the kid from Utah and at Duke becomes just a star and wins college player of the year(Doubtful on Dukes stacked team)
I think this comes down to the fact that DL have always modelled the Jazz on the 2004 Detroit Championship team which didn't have an Alpha Dog per se... the closest they had was Chauncey Billups who won the Finals MVP that year which was curious because it clearly was a TEAM EFFORT based on DEFENSE. Remember how they defended the Lakers in the Finals that year?!?!
DL prefers to have a consistent team of players with no ego rather than a flash in the pan type of team consisting of players with egos.
Quick question.. are you a Jazz fan ?Billups was known as Mr. Big shot, He was a high school all American and took a couple years to float around before he got it. Great story. That was one team who ever won a title and that's who you would want to model after? Because one of 68 isn't very good numbers? Jazz don't even have anyone close to Billups and Since he mention Pistons Lyles does remind me of Rasheed . close to 7 footers jacking thress but even Lyles is a few years away. Just think the Jazz if they want to take next step would go get a star but they wont and this will be how the jazz are. Jazz ownership is just happy to make playoffs. That's the type of market yall have. Not a city like Boston or LA where making the playoffs simply isn't good enough.
