I have 3 beers on tap for this game.

80 Schilling Scottish Ale - My first attempt at this style. It's a very clean tasting ale with a focus on the malt flavor. Almost no hop aroma or flavor is detectable in this style. The color is dark (a little dark for the style, even) but the taste and mouth feel is lighter than the color might lead you to believe. There is a subtle smokey aroma and flavor, but it is the product of the authentic Scottish ale yeast and not from smoked or peated malts.

ABV approx 4%

American IPA - A style that is overtaking the homebrewing and craft brewing world. This is my latest attempt and I'd call it a fair example of the style. I used loads of american hops (cascade, primarily) which provide a citrusy grapefruit aroma and crisp refreshing taste.

ABV approx 6.5%

Extra Special Bitter - My favorite beer! This is a classic English style pale ale. This English version of a pale ale focuses more on the rich malty flavors of the grain than on loads of hops. Traditional English hops provide a moderate earthy/floral aroma with flavors similar to stonefruit.

Troutbyum, if you or one of your alts is reading this, you haven't been forgotten. Now go sign up.

Whoa. I actually had forgotten about him.

Hadn't checked that far down the standings.

That's adorable.

I didn't realize this was $50.00. Good hell. Looks like I won't be paying UGLI his BYU/Utah money this week after all. Sorry about that, bitch. See you Tuesday.

I gotta do one of these sometime.

I was talking to one of my friends that comes to the poker tourney's about you, and he couldn't think of who you were for the longest time. Finally, he was like...

"Oh that guy?! I thought he was just the caterer or something? He always just drops food off, then leaves. He plays in the tournaments?"

LOL

Not to put any pressure on you or anything but everyone in positions 10-15 is going to play. You're sitting in sixth place but have 17.57 in points. 10th place has 15.04. I wouldn't say it's likely, but it is very possible that you could fall out of the top 9. If you make the ToC you are guaranteed $20, so consider this a $30 game if it makes you feel better.

I gotta do one of these sometime.

Come play, it's only a 5hr drive.

Besides, after the league is done I don't have any plans to host any more games. I may not be in the same house 6 months from now.

What do you think the payouts for the ToC are gonna be? Just asking out of curiosity. If you dont know off the top of your head, no worries.

So I played with the numbers based on $900 in the ToC prize pool. 1st will be in the neighborhood of $300. Here's a work-in-progress breakdown:
1st $300
2nd $200
3rd $150
4th $75
5th $50
6th $30
7th $30
8th $25
9th $20
10th $20

The prize pool before this last game is at $785. We have 14 RSVPs, so we'll be a little higher than $900 for the ToC. Most of that extra will go to the top 3. I'm open for suggestions. I wasn't going to make anything official until after the play-in game.

Head's up! The play-in game is going to be held Saturday the 20th, the day after this game. The starting time will be 5pm.

Not many people are signed up! You can sign up even if you are currently qualified for the ToC. It really doesn't matter if you sign up right away as long as you are aware of when it will be held and will be able to make it if for some reason you don't finish in the top 9. The buy-in will be $20, first place gets a seat at the ToC and no cash. 2nd and 3rd will get 30% and 20% (respectively) of the buy-ins from the play-in game (subject to change if there are only 3 players at the play-in game, which seems like a possibility). I'm signed up and my wife is signed up but I'm hoping to qualify for the ToC and my wife is currently scheduled to work. I'll likely serve as a dedicated non-playing dealer for the game.

What happens if someone already qualified for the ToC wins the play in tourney?

What happens if someone already qualified for the ToC wins the play in tourney?

If you're qualified you can't play in the play-in game. If you signed up now but ended up in the top 9 your RSVP would get cancelled.
