GAMETHREAD: Jazz hosting Warriors - 1/13 7pm (mst) ROOT

Kanter just has to play with Rudy anchoring the defense. He's probably the only guy in the league that's able to cover up his bad D.

Would help if we had some more athleticism on the perimeter as well so Gobert wouldn't have so many holes in the **** to plug simultaneously. Having Favors and Gobert out there goes far in solving that problem at least.

It would be one thing if Kanter was a physically inept defender, but he isn't really. He has good enough size to be a good defender. He is just slow as **** on rotations. Always a half-second late (on good days).

Favors needs to be a bigger part of this offense. He dominates at times then the team does not go to him for awhile. His jump shot is improving so fast.

I think Favors can/will next season be hitting threes.

I'd rather Favors do other stuff at a more elite level before trying threes. Focus more on defense, screening, post ups and midrange before 3s. Plenty of great bigs in the NBA today who don't really shoot 3s (LMA even though he's shooting some now, Horford etc.)

He'd look good being a bigger part of the offense too. Turning into a really versatile big who can roll and pop.

Seriously guys, think about that. Gobert had 7 assists last year, the ENTIRE YEAR!! His rate of improvement is simply amazing!

How many defensive mistakes did Kanter have on Green? A billion?

Kanter is the weak link everyone has to cover for. When Gobert is in, we don't have that problem and our wings can play respectable defense.

Green scored 15 points, 9 of which were 3-pointers. Your Kanter hate is irrationale.

Yet we are still here waiting for Kanter to be able to pass out of a double team in his 4th year.

I like to think that's partly because Corbin never played him. Gobert deserved minutes last year and when ever he came into the game he did positive things.

Some things he can't really help. Green had one transition 3 as a trailer where he took a straightaway 3 from the top of the key. Enes was near and hand his hand up. Not much more you can do than that. You can't expect that sort of play. It's just that the entire GSW team was crazy hot and Green got in some of that action.

He still had a lot of defensive lapses though. too many. his offensive boarding looked ok though. that's his biggest asset.

Exum had a couple bad defensive lapses too that i saw, although I'm not sure they directly led to buckets.

If he has the ability (does not need to take many) then it opens up his offensive game (defenders have to guard him much further away from the basket) and others offensive game (floor spacing).

Cy, you just need to lower expectations for Kanter. I've found myself to be much more mellow (#mmm) after accepting the fact that he'll always suck at defense, and always be bad at passing.

Just chill, bro.

Had the Jazz been able to force the Warriors to play any halfcourt offense in the 2nd half, we probably would have seen them mercilessly pick apart Kanter. Instead, they got up in our grill, made us take ****ty shots, rebounded the basketball, and ran to the other end of the court for easy buckets.
