What's new

Gamethread: Jazz v Lakers. 7pm MST.

You asked if I thought it would be typical for the jazz to hold teams to 70 pts per game, as if that is the only thing one could possibly mean by high level of defense. The Jazz didn't even do that against the Blazers or Spurs.

My standard for high level is around 100 points allowed per 100 possessions. And the Jazz have by and large been able to do that consistently in games Gobert has started with the exception of a game where they turned the ball over 21 times.
I said the Portland game and the San Antonio game were fools gold..... as in I don't see us playing at that level normally this year. Those games made jazz fans think we are better than we are
We ain't that good

Fools gold in a sense. I think they showed our potential, but we have a ways to go.

Hood gonna be good if his foot works out.

Millsap looked fully engaged.

I would pull Exum out of the starting lineup again and I'm dead serious. Might get him to reconsider his 'chickenly' manners on the court.

Recall Clark and send Exum to the DLEague until he becomes a man. He's playing like a scared little kid.

I agree.
Next year we will be ready to compete for the playoffs.

It's not just the Blazers or Spurs games, bro. In the last 25% of our games, our schedule has been the toughest in the NBA, and our average scoring margin in that stretch is actually +2.64. Due largely to a generally consistent high level of defense. The Jazz aren't worldbeaters by any stretch, but they have definitely turned a corner, and one horrible game doesn't erase all of that.

I was referring to us kicking the asses of playoff teams as not being represintitave of where we are as a team. ie, fools gold. We ain't THAT good

Trey looked terrible out there tonight. Dante has much room for improvement but the offense ran better with him out there and the defense too.

I think this is because Dante has a better sense when to get the ball off his hands may be ?

And you're right. We aren't THAT good.

It was the "tank is still on" comment that elicited my response. We are through tanking, and given that we have one of the easier remaining schedules, should win more than we lose from here on out this season.

Say whatever you want about Burke but he is trying. Not that I want to defend him, but you can actually see him wanting to play the game.
Whereas Exum spends most of his time behind the 3pt line and just moves the ball to the next guy. Every game like this.
