Geothermal - will it happen?

We don't know, there might have been some super-advanced race that was so intelligent that they lived in such perfect harmony with nature that they went extinct without any feature of their existence remaining.

Which is more likely? An advance race that left no trace of their existence or that we are currently the most advanced? I know, I know... what about Atlantis.

I think "climate change" is actually alien terraforming in preparation of a full-scale invasion. Make it like the homeworld. Kill off some humans, get them infighting and in disarray, and the takeover is that much easier.

While there were mass extinctions there were also mass evolution generating many modern day mammals during the period you cite.

Since we already exist, a mass extinction is far more likely to kill us. Of course, maybe only 98% of humans will die off. As long as some Tibetans survive, it's not big deal, right?

Plus, I wonder if the most intelligent life to ever live on Earth would somehow find a way to survive.

Brains are expensive. If food becomes really scarce for a long period of time, we'll lose out intelligence.

Well, "interesting" is in the eye of the beholder. It wasn't truthful, honest, or accurate. But I'd be the last to say that someone else could not find it interesting.
